Should have known that I was going to get a comment from a yupee. Pretty boy can't drive a stick. LOL .....I bet he looks funny going down the road with his libs vibrating up and down and spit going everywhere. I drive a stick, I don't have to pretend like you do with an automatic!!!! You may have a new truck, but I still have a stick. HA.....I still love driving my truck, even if it is 16 years old, which I bought it with 3 miles on it. This is "Quality - Job One"...and, yes " I have driven a Ford lately". Ford can put excitement back into driving again with a manual transmission. Anyone can put a entertainment systems in a vehicle. Oh I Forgot, your to busy playing with all your little buttons. You can't drive, play with the buttons and shift at the same time.

Get over yourself. You feel special because you know how to drive a stick? It's not rocket science. I was driving my Dad's 1972 F100 4 speed manual with no power steering before I was out of elementary school....My first several vehicles were sticks.... but I don't feel the need to say "Hey everyone! I can drive a stick!"
My comment was made to poke fun at your apparent obsession with having a rod in your hands while driving and that you feel the need to tell everyone about it. You somehow associate the transmission with quality and Ford's lack thereof because you can't find a new one with a stick? You're quite the automotive genius Mario Andretti.
If you get such a woody from driving a manual transmission truck maybe you should buy a vehicle that can actually perform with a standard transmission like a muscle car or a sports car. But I suppose your retort to that would be that your mid nineties (the good ol' days?) "quality-job one" F150 can out do any vehicle at anything!

wow i loved manual transmissions too when i was 18, but 8 years later im in love with auto-matual cvt transmissions, best of both worlds, 6spd auto when tacking a trip, or traffic commute and manual when you need it.

Not including the ECOBoost, which is what I want. If other MFG'S, has manual transmissions as an option with their V6 engines. Why can't Ford have an option with a manual transmission with the V6 ECOBoost engine? It's a V6! I'm not giving up and setteling for what ever they have on the lot.
Yeah it's a "V6" but it's a premium V6 and I doubt Ford will be putting a manual back in the F150. You can get a manual shift Automatic if you like, but I'm sure you would prefer a true manual.

Yes, you are right, I am obsessed with the manaul transmission. You have more control with an manual than an automatic. True you can up shift and down shift with an automatic while in the manual shift mode. However, you do not have the control to give it light torque, medium torque or lots of torque. Unless you do a power break. The automatic is controlled via the differential pressure and the vaccum pressure of the engine. With a manual, you control the torque via the clutch. You can give it light pressure, medium pressure or just pop the clutch. An automatic you have fluid going thru the torque converter at all times, except neutral or park. So your having to apply more breaks, cause the vehical wants to move forwards, cause of the torque converter. Plus you have to change fluid and filter every 40k miles and you can not overfill the fluid. With a manual you let up off the gas and you automaticly start slowing down. Using less breaks. Plus you stop much faster when you push in the clutch while appling the breaks. Automatics, you have to over come the torque converter. With a manual you change the fluid every 80k miles and no filter. An automatic you have all kinds of sensors, cooling lines and computers. Manuals you have a neutral safty switch and a reverse switch.
I love that I know how to drive a stick. But I don't bragg about it. I just tell people that I have more control with a stick than an automatic. Thats great that you can drive both. And I bet if someone took away your obsession/passion that you would be all up in arms too. Just like me. I'm not knocking automatics, cause I know when I get older, I will not be able to drive a stick. That will be a very hard day to handle. So, yes I am young enough and I want to enjoy the days that I can drive a stick. Plus I'm not asking for much. I feel like they are ramming the automatics down my throat. Telling me here it is, take it and love it. Well I'm not going to take it and I'm not going to love it. The only options I have is an automatic and an automatic. Don't make my choices for me, cause I did not make them for you. All I am asking is let me have the option of a stick. Let me make that choice. Do not choose it for me. I'm not ramming a stick down your thoat. I just want the option. That is all that I am asking.
I got a $500 discount for a manual. I know times have changed, I respect that. Lets say I pay $500 for a stick. Plus, I had to order it and it took 5 months to get it. I can handle that. Like I said I'm not asking for much. I really don't like to have people ram crap down my throat. Again, give those of us that want a stick, a choice. Don't make them for us.

I get where you're coming from, but you should realize that Ford is not in the business of making everybody happy. They're in business to sell vehicles that most people would want and make a large profit by doing so. People wanting a manual in a truck these days is a very small minority. Ford has determined that making a manual for this miniscule percentage is not worth their time, effort, and/or money to produce. Other 1/2 ton truck manufacturers have come to similar conclusions. That's their prerogative. They are not required to make you exactly what you want, and you are likewise not required to buy their product.

No one is forcing you to buy a product that you wouldn't be happy with. If someone doesn't offer what you want, make it yourself. This is America, where you can obtain the parts and knowledge to build a manual if you so desire and put work into. Heck, you can start up an aftermarket manual kit business if you want. It's a beautiful thing.

Haha, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the ramblings and idiotic jaw jacking in this particular post from one particular member. I also liked the grammatical errors all over the place. If I am not mistaken...this forum is enhanced with spell check! Yes I know I am being a hater, but even for a newbie to Ford vehicles as I am, I think the battle of who is more manly, a stick driver, or an automatic owner is just plain ridiculous. I have owned 6 vehicles in my life, all being manual transmission, but I don't grunt and shove a roll of quarters down my wrangler jeans while workin' the gears. As someone said earlier, get over yourself!

Your're not getting a stick.

I'm not sure I totally agree with your control theory either. Off roading with a stick sucks and so does towing. Ask any rock crawler, we gave up on sticks a long time ago. Automatic transmissions can do great things with two pedal manipulation...things that would burn the clutch out on an manual in a single day.

My 2 cents.

(I assure you I'm not a yuppie, and I further assure you that I can drive a stick, lol)

Why do I sometimes feel that some people find stuff like this to bitch about so they can feel better about the fact they can't afford a new truck and they are stuck with their 90s model with 200,000 miles on it that blows smoke down the highway...?

Why can't I get a carburetor people! This is BS! Can't a guy just have a simple carburetor instead of this new fangled, far inferior Fuel injection crap!? What is this world coming to! Thats it Ford! I ain't buyin' no new truck from you guys until you smarten up and start moving backwards in technology.....And this rant is based solely on my love of carburetors and not because I'm only 16 and think I know everything about vehicles because my redneck uncle's Trans Am is carbureted and ain't nothin' beatin' that thing in a race!...when its running
