So I ahve continued in my quest of fuel mileage and tried to find things that created the greatest variable. I have found that much of my driving with 91 octane I have had a steady 14 to 18% increase in mileage. So really what does that mean, for me with my truck how I drive where I drive and being a slight mizer about speding money on fuel.. With 91 and with 87 it runs about 7 to 9% price difference per gallon but net about 1 to 2 better MPG... I drive about 60-40 mostly in town but on occassion cruise the freeways for about 30 miles to get to San Jose... I get 16 to 18 MPG with 91 and 14 to 16 MPG with 87.. So it is a plus to use 91 in my Flex fuel truck, but this has more to do with variable controlled engine timing with the higher octane... I believe the octane yields zero more BTU per gallon, more the engine advances the timing to such an extreme it gets more out of 91 than 87.... Just in my experince anyways....

15.4 on first tank post oil change. That's part road trip with a mattress in the back, part driving all over hell and high water in very hilly KC. If you ever needed a good reason to change your oil more frequently, your performance and economy improve noticeably.

On that note fellas, I'm done posting my mpgs (partly because I'm on a mixed tank right now, 91 was a ¢30 premium!), but I hope to hear more from you guys and hope more jump on board to try it out. Happy driving!
