F150 enough for 2 big dogs and 2 children
Hello all of you.
Here's my story.
We were looking into buying a chevrolet traverse or a supercrew f150. We can have both at almost the same price but here's my dilema.
We have 3 month old and 1 90lbs labrador and 1 50lbs mutt.We are planning on having another baby in the next 2 to 3 years. We will be using this vehicule less then 10 000km a year. It will mostly stay in the garage except week ends. I fear that with 1 baby and 2 big dogs , we will run out of place in the back of the f150 let alone with 2 kids. The traverse offer a 8 seater so the dogs would go in the last row..wich leaves more than enough space for 2 and even 3 kid in the middle row. But it leaves you not a whoe lot of space for coolers..groceries...etc....
Bare in mind that we have no utility for a pickup..we do not pull anything and anything that would fit in the box , i can fit in the traverse.
I also do not want to put the dogs in a enclosed box in the f150.
My main thing is the traverse would be handyier and easy to get all the family in with n issues 95% of the time when we do not have to carry camping gear.
The f150 would be more of a hassly 95% of the time to get everybody in comfortably but the camping gear would fit easily.
We need the box of the truck 3 to 4 times a year.
Any opionions?

If I had the needs you described I would get a Chevy or GMC suburban or Ford Expedition EL. Since you will only be driving it on weekends and not putting a lot of miles on it you could buy a used low mileage one for about the same price as a new F150. Plenty of rooms for kids, dogs and cargo.

Having only parked next to a Traverse... still seems a bit small but offers better separation of the interior for the kids and the dogs.
If you are not going to kennel/crate the dogs, and they would not remain on the floor (as posed to jumping on the back seats when the kid are strapped in) the F150 SCREW isn't going to be a good fit for you. But that also depends on how well you train the dogs. If you can get them, or one, to sit on the floor and the other to sit center seat you could get a way with it. But on the other hand if you get the traverse and put the dogs in the very back you reduce your cargo capacity inside the vehicle but can be offset with a luggage rack and cargo box on top... just a thought.
