Default F150 4.6 any good? Should i?

Ok I have a opportunity to trade my ole reliable 1995 ford ranger 2.3l 5 speed 4x4 with new tires and 3 in lift, has 161k miles, for a stock 2000 f150 4.6 ext cab auto, it's the 4 door not 3 door, seems to have a lot of the options, but only has cloth seat( don't bother me) the truck has 163k miles, half tread tires, alittle cab corner and rocker rust just starting so it's still fixable, he says only issues are oil pressure gauge is broke and because of that the check engine light is on?(would that trip a cel?)and a slight exhaust mani leak, just a tick noise he says, what's this truck worth? Is the 4.6 motor reliable? Easy to work on? This will be a DD but will haul a quad here and there, he says the 4x4 works good, and also have to drive 1hr 30 mins to look at it, that's why I wanna hear all the feed back on it before I go drive all that way and figure out its not what I want. Here's a pic and thanks for your responses!

I'd keep the ranger, frankly.

Better the devil you know...

From the engine comments I'd be very, very concerned about other issues.

Ya I understand in just fed up with this ranger, my only issue really with the ranger is the 4x4 is messed up and it's just too little cab space, also spent over 700 on the 4x4 and still not right

Not sure why people hate on the 4.6L so much. Look up the 4.6L in taxi cabs. Cab drivers love them because they're reliable. Honestly it depends on maintenance but I personally know a couple guys who got late 200k and and early 300k out of these motors. One guy was a taxi cab driver and he says most of the units in his fleet opt to replace the motor than buy a new cab since they can last so long. They're not the strongest V8 out there but I wouldnt worry too much about engine reliability if maintanence is good. Hows the rest of the truck aside from the motor?

It really does depend on if it's been cared for. If it has poor maintanence or no records than i'd probably pass.

The truck doesn't look beat to hell, it looks like someone halfway took car of it, not many dents, interior is pretty good just dirty...I thought the 4.6 in cars were different then the truck motor?

I'll be checking it out tommarrow or Friday, I think if it is mechanically sound, and no major problems I think I'll trade, cosmetics don't bother me I enjoy taking something that looks alittle rough and making it 10x better, I should post some before and after pic of my ranger, it's a hobby I guess you'd say
