Sounds like a shady dealer to keep your deposit if you don't buy. I've put a deposit on a few vehicles, bought one, let the other 2 go and my deposit was refunded. No way would I put a nonrefundable deposit down on any vehicle.

Hilarious...they supposedly sold it on Friday night but the buyer was not picking it up until Saturday but as of Saturday morning I could still put a deposit on it and it was mine....seriously if it were sold they would sell it out from underneath someone else????

This is a dealer in knoxville TN, so maybe they should take an ethics test!!

Talk is cheap and until the paperwork is complete, it is not "sold". My truck on the dealer lot had a "reserved for Sam" placard on the mirror because a guy name Sam was suppose to come down later in the day to buy it but my sales person said "first come, first serve" and made the deal with me.

I brought up about "Sam" coming later in the day and they could have cared less.

Default F150 2016 Platinum "Used"

$49,000 would be about right.... My 2015 Platinum was $63,339, I got it for $52,800.... The 2016's are left over 6speed auto's with the 365 horses in the 3.5, while the 2017's get you the 10speed auto, with 385 horses same engine. Don't pay extra for the 2016 Demo.....

Never, ever, ever agree to a non-refundable deposit. I've also had bad luck with dealers who insist on ANY deposit, to be honest. I'm not saying any dealer who insists on a deposit is sketchy, but in my experience there's a strong correlation between the two.

The only good part about a deposit is if there is a REFUNDABLE deposit on a vehicle it can't (or shouldn't) be sold out from under you.

Personally to me it is a used vehicle, titled or not. It is fully loaded with the tech package etc.

Thoughts???
I don't think you should be hesitant about a demo vehicle as long as your getting an good deal on it. The only thing it changes is the fact that now the axles, tires etc are used more so then a new truck. The last thing to keep in mind is that part of the warranty is also gone. All of these things are reasons why it should be an "extra" good deal.

I am not positive what experiences you've had, but I've worked at Ford Dealerships before. Generally Demo vehicles are used by upper management and they ride them around for a while as a perk of being upper management. Once they've gotten a bit of miles or another vehicle catches their eye, they move on to another ride. A demo is also not "used' as its never been titled. They are ridden with dealer tags which means they weren't registered etc.

If the MSRP is 64, I think 50 would be a good start. Generally Ford incentives would have brought just about any truck down around 10k off that MSRP. It being a DEMO should also help bring it down a few more thousand.
