Which F-150 came with 20 inch rims stock???
 

Hey guys I'm a little confused. I'm trying to figure out which F-150 2004-2008 came with stock 20 inch rims? I've seen this around town and online. I thought the 2wd came with stock 17s, and the 4wd came with stock 18s?

The FX2, FX4, Lariat, and King Ranch were all available with the 20 inch wheels regardless of 2wd or 4x4. The 18 inch(17 inch on some early FX4 trucks) were standard; with the 20 inch as an upgrade.

But what about the gears?
 

If that's the case then they both came with stock 3.55 or 3.71 gears. And anytime you hear someone talking about upgrading wheel size to a 20 inch rims everyone claims you have to regear for best performance and less tranny wear , however if they made them with stock 20s and stock axles like that then that's not necessarily true??

My 08 Lariat came stock with 20's and 275/55/20 tires. I also have 3.55 LS gears. Maybe the regearing people talk about is for larger tire size? I was told that if I wanted 35's, I'd want to regear. But I'm happy with 33's.

07 King Ranch with 3.73s No problems with daily driving or light towing.

My 14 came with 20's(which are now on my 16) and it had 3.15 gears, so that debunks that myth about gearing.

This is music to my ears . I'm glad to hear it. I've been trying to convince myself to run 33s on my truck and this is what I need to hear to commit. Getting the lift put on tomorrow

It's not the larger wheels that bring talk of regear, it's the larger tires.

^^^this^^^ I was just about to ask how wheel size had any effect on gearing.

Okay I did not want to have to type this out and I still dont. But the idea that increasing wheel size doesn't effect gear ratio and only increasing tire size does is flat-out wrong. Anytime you alter the ratio of the circle of the ratio an ecm is suppose to spend it effects how it performs . This is why when sports cars get larger rims they decrease the size of the tire. Increasing wheel size or tire size has the same effect. If the new tire size + the new wheel size is greater than the old wheel size + the old tire size the gearing is gonna be off
