Default Extended warranty on a used F150

What should I expect to pay for an extended warranty for a 2016 used F150? Is one product better than another? Should I buy it from a ford dealer, or from where I buy the truck (it is a dealer) just not a ford dealer.
Are there better and/or cheaper products available?

I think I paid A little over $2K for a 4 yr / 48000 mile extended warranty when I bought my truck used. Mine was a Ford ESP.

i recommend going with the ford esp (extended service plan). flood ford and zeigler ford sell in volume and usually have them at lower prices than your local dealer will offer.

FYI - my dealer priced matched Ziegler's 9yr - 125k Premium for $1600 (as I remember from 1.5 yrs ago). Has to do with sales volume.

I offered my local Ford store, where I bought my new truck, the opportunity to match the quote from Ziegler. He almost laughed at me. He wouldn't get close. Which is fine. His loss, Ziegler's gain.

I created a thread on this topic a year or so ago. I was horrified to know how much the dealers were robing us with outrageous ESP prices compared to the online prices from Ford Dealership like Ziegler! I have the CPO and waited one year (before the bumper to bumper expired) to get the extended Premium ESP. After talking to the finance manager at my dealership about the online prices being so much less ($2600 vs $1600ish) I got the feeling from him that if people are willing to pay we are willing to take their money! It could be that a really good purchase price/lower profit margin is countered with up selling over priced warranties - Caveat Emptor!

The only significant failure I had on my '01 F150 was a transmission at 160k miles. $2000 for replacement back in '09. I sold it at 240k miles with no further failures. Current '13 3.5 EB has 115k miles with no problems with any of the items covered by the extended warranty. I can't see how spending $2600 or even $1600 for a warranty for only 150k miles can make any sense.
