If the "warranty company" is the problem, that sounds like it is not a Ford ESP. If so, the Ford dealership service department is not to blame.

How about some clarification ?

In all my dealings with extended warranties as the repair provider I have never had an issue with the customer paying out of pocket and then getting reimbursed. Of course there is a certain amount of time required in building your working reputation with the warranty companies. Ford must have found the least expensive provider for their ESP.

clarification: I have an ESP through Ally. I bought the vehicle at a non-Ford dealer but took it to a Ford dealer for this work. Also I’m a she, not a he.

the timeline: made appt for 11/20. On 11/19, truck making enough weird noises that I’m no longer comfortable driving it. Tow truck delivers vehicle to Ford dealership at 10:30am on 11/20 for 12pm appt. I hear nothing. I call service dept at 5:30pm on 11/20, they can’t tell me anything.

I call again at 12pm on 11/21. The person I speak to says the truck was never checked in and asked if I was calling the right dealer. Says he will walk to back of lot and check and call me back. I hear nothing.

I call again at 2pm. Cannot get confirmation that truck is even at dealership even though tow company says they dropped it at that specific dealer. My husband then drives to dealer and speaks to service depot.

finally someone calls me at 3pm on 11/21, says they cannot replicate noise.

I then get a call on 11/22, says they found noise, think it’s IWEs. Says they are calling warranty company.

on 11/25, service dept calls, says got approval, parts ordered, if warranty company pays hopefully truck will be done in 2 days.

on 11/27, service dept calls, says valve broke while repairing IWEs and they need approvals again to order. I ask if I can go purchase valve myself. Told no, part is 12 hours away and with thanksgiving, truck won’t be ready until 12/2.

on 12/2, I get a call that warranty paid bill and I can pick up the truck.

I have bought 4 used vehicles as an adult and had an ESP on all of them, used all of them, and never had a vehicle in the shop this long. That said, I haven’t used an ESP in close to 5 years and it’s clear now that the process is different. Once things got rolling the service dept communicated better and they got me a loaner which was great. I’m aware now that I need to expect a long repair time when making claims with the warranty company.

Bottom line: She bought a non - Ford ESP and is having repairs at a Ford dealer. No problem there, but it sounds like her complaint is about Ally, not Ford. I'm just wanting to clarify her clarification. Moral to story, buy a genuine FORD ESP.
