Default ESP/warranty causing delays in repairs?

I have owned my truck for 2 months. Had it towed to Ford dealer a week ago for scheduled appointment. Took 2 days to diagnose problem (IWEs), 2-3 days to get approval from warranty company. Just called and said they broke a valve during repair, have to order part, now won’t have truck back until maybe Monday. That’s almost 2 weeks to repair a common problem.

Service department blaming it on warranty company, says they take too long to approve claims. I have had extended warranty plans on every vehicle I’ve owned (4) and have NEVER had this problem and never had a vehicle in the shop this long. Is this a thing now? Anyone else with similar experiences? I am extremely frustrated and trying to figure out if I’m being strung along or if this is just the new norm....

yes ESP is beyond difficult now, if we need to do an engine or transmission rebuild under ESP, its at least at least 3 days to a week until we get approval, have to send pictures and sometimes they even send an inspector out.

Forget it if it was a 3rd party warranty

Ugh. Thank you for the info. It’s been a while since I had repairs done with a warranty, this is insane. Can’t believe things will be delayed another 2 days over a $30 valve! At least it’s not just me-I haven’t worked with this dealership before and I didn’t know if it was them or what.

There is only one faster way and that is for you to pay up front and get reimbursed.

Seriously? Is that an option? I was never given that choice, even when I asked if I could go buy the $30 valve somewhere and bring it to them.

Why are Ford's rules different for ESP than the regular new car warranty? I would think it would be administered the same.

I read and re-read this post, and cannot find any reference by the OP that he is getting the runaround from Ford with a FORD ESP.

If the "warranty company" is the problem, that sounds like it is not a Ford ESP. If so, the Ford dealership service department is not to blame.

How about some clarification ?

Is the hold up due to the ESP approving that broken valve?
If so and its cheap enough, pay for the valve out of pocket.
