EPA MPG vs real world MPG clarified

That is Kinda High
But if the trip was an empty vessel, wind at his back, Downhill/Decline mostly,...doable. But that's rather high for a 1/2 ton truck.
My V8 15Lariat registered around 21MPG, on a 700mi, 4A mode only, and the temperature the entire trip was Freeeezzzing (in early Jan17, upper mid west) and windy.
And once I drove an 02 Infiniti G20 1000miles (MS to Wash DC) and I registered almost 40MPG. I still don't believe it but most of the trip did seem DownHill, especially once I got to the TN/VA portion.
I was getting such great mileage, I actually thought my Fuel Gauge was busted and pulled over (in the VA Hills) for gas earlier than necessary.

After 120 miles since returning from our trip towing which netted 8 MPG. Check out the MTE. Thats after driving 50 miles since the fill up too. I still can't figure out WHY the picture is upright when I look at it on my computer but sideways after uploading it. Stupid phone.

A recent trip from NC to NY net me an average mpg between 25 and 26 mpg.
I have a 16 Ecoboost XLT 2wd. Not bad for all those hills in PA and NY. Travelling at 70 mph.
I usually don't take stock in what the mileage indicators on the dash state but this time the numbers were right on. I compared the actual mileage vs the gas used and the numbers matched. This came about with just me in the vehicle with a few packages and the tires pumped to 45lbs. air pressure.

My 5.0 has only 500 miles on it so not yet broken in, and the first tank averaged 15.2 mpg. After filling near home last night I drove to work this morning, mostly freeway with cruise set at 66, and it was 17.6 mpg. I love that 36 gallon tank, but it's odd to be below 1/4 tank and see distance to empty at 150 miles.

First road trip, on the weekend.
Under relatively ideal conditions, pretty much flat and only approximately 45minutes at each speed … but still, so far so good. I have only just crossed over 1,000km, yesterday.

27.16 MPG at 102 km/h

30.7 MPG at 112 km/h

Well ... let me tell y'all a little something about mathematics
Here in Canuckie-land (we first began implementing metrication in Canada in 1970 with a government agency dedicated to implementing the project...by approximately 1977).
Canuckie-land-ians "typically discuss the weather in degrees Celsius, purchase gasoline in litres, observe speed limits set in kilometres per hour (km/h)".
At the tender age of 52, I grew up with Imperial measurements and then had to learn the Metric system ... thus I believe that I am fluently bi-lingual in both forms of measurement. Although I understand L/100km, I don't like it and prefer to do the mathematical conversion to Miles per Gallon.
If you were to look closely at the pictures of my dash gauge, you will see that everything is shown in Metric. The gauge is based on {AVG L/100km}.
Here comes the math:
- the constants are: L/100Km and 100Km = 62.5Miles
- the variables are, the Imperial Gallon (IG) is based at 4.546L, the US Gallon (USG) is based at 3.785L
At (first picture) 102Km/hr it said AVG 10.4L, therefore
1) IG = 2.29G
2) USG = 2.74G
IG = 62.5/2.29 = 27.29MPG (Can)
USG = 62.5/2.74 = 22.81MPG
At (second picture) 112Km/hr it said AVG 9.2L, therefore
1) IG = 2.02G
2) USG = 2.43G
IG = 62.5/2.02 = 30.94MPG (Can)
USG = 62.5/2.43 = 25.72MPG
Not saying, but just saying ... your math needs some homework
Hope this helps everyone following this thread, about "EPA MPG vs real world MPG clarified"
