Thoughts on a 2011
Still looking for my truck. While poking around for something in my price range (10 to 11k), i found this:
https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/702446222/overview/
A little plain and no room for the dogs (but i have a daily driver for that). I'm going to drive a trip a week to work (just to turn over the gas), haul firewood and tow a boat. I'll put less than 5k miles a year. I think towing is 8200 and payload about 2000. Close enough for my needs.
Am i asking for trouble with a 200k mile 2011? There is little or no rust underneath. Wondering about the durability of the 5l and 6 speed tranny. I would plan some mods (bigger wheel/tires, maybe an exhaust upgrade or a small lift) and don't want to drop that money into a new motor or transmission.
Thoughts?

Looks pretty clean from This report I would however suggest a scanner that can do pending codes and inspect it thoroughly. That being said either the report is wrong or the listing is as it's saying the truck is RWD and not 4x4.

I'd feel better about a 200k 2011 than a 200k 2001. At least the items that suffer from age/time should still be in good shape.
The only thing I would suggest is to consider what you might get if you threw another $5k at it. So, for $10-16k could you get something with only 100k miles and maybe save yourself $3-5k in repair bills (or being broked down)...such as a transmission. Maybe you've already done that and considered all the possible scenarios.

With as little as you are planning driving it most likely it will give you several years worth of good life if not a decade or more as long as it's taken care of. Just put what you'd put into a more expensive truck in the bank and use that to pay for parts or towards a new truck.
Just my not so humble opinion.

So how afraid of a 24v 5.4l should I be? This one is an 08 built in 07. Low miles. Two owners. Close to me. Tranny rebuilt/replaced 2k miles ago. It is 500 pounds less payload but more towing. Room for the dogs.
All i read is how bad these can be, coming unglued with little warning. I spent some time today looking for lower milage, post 2011s in my price range with little luck.
