Default Electric fan problems

Hello, Im not sure how to put this post in a category but i need help. I've got two electric fans off a taurus i found in a junk yard. The only way I can put them is is to have it suck air from the engine and blow into the radiator. I have it all wired up that way right now and it seems to be doing the job. Does anyone else run it like this? I read that you can switch the rotation of the fans by switching the polarities. I had the fans wired up in a parallel form and did this but the wires got really hot and didn't want to run that way. Im running it all with a switch if that helps any.. This is my daily driver so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Stop working on your truck. Just kidding . First off air needs to flow from front to back. Second your not going to change direction of the fans, it can be done but you need a working knowledge of dc motors. Best option is get the correct replacement fan.

That's kind of like drilling holes in Chevy wheels to make them fit your truck. Nothing good can come of it.

So no one knows how to reverse the fan blades?

I cant flip the blades around on these ones. I've already tried. I really would like to learn how to just reverse the rotation since i already have everything wired up.

Try working with just one fan at a time. That way you can make sure that each fan will run in reverse with the polarity reversed with no problem.
Additionally, parallel may not be the best idea. You may want to wire them individually.

pictures? what size wiring are you running. youve gotta have atleast 10 gauge wire for the circuit. the fans should be the same fans as the windstar.

ive got the dual fan set up from a windstar in my truck. fans work great. you can change the direction of the fan by switching the wires around. how do you have the fan mounted? is it mounted properly? (meaning facing the correct direction. the fan from the factory should blow air in) wires the fans seperate as well.

do you have the proper fuse? what about a controller?

i agree with this.

you wont hardly ever run both fans at the same time. they suck way to many amps. i think about 20 amps each (25amps at start up) the main fan (again if they are the same size as the windstar fans) should cool the truck fine. i only ever run one fan when im driving. my temp stays at 200 degrees. i turn the high speed fan on when im sitting if i have the AC on.

Thanks for giving me the idea to not run them parallel. Not they're reversed without over heating the wires. But now I have a new question. They aren't spinning as fast as they used to be. How do I increase the amps going to the fans? Anyone have any ideas?

BTW, they are in a series type circuit and i have them running with one switch. I understand yall are saying to run each one separately but I want to know if I can increase the amps with out doing that.
