Mytouch WIFI capable of using network drive?
If I were to get a wifi ready hard drive or something like WDTV Live would I be able to use mytouch as the wifi hub so that the kids can connect their ipad to it to watch videos on the portable hard drive? Just curious if it works without having wireless modem.
Preparing for a 24 hour drive time with 2 kids and a wife none of which like driving anywhere more than 20min.

Thanks for the reply. I'm lost when it comes to networks.
I was playing around in the MFT settings last night and went to the wifi and turned it on. It showed me a password so on my Iphone I searched for networks and found sync_00000000 and put in the password. The MFT then showed my iphone was connected. So does that mean I'm on a "network" and if I were to put a wdtv live box which has wifi capability it would connect to MFT too and Iphone should then see it? This is what I'd like to be able to do with the wdtv live.

Reading through this makes me think it may indeed be possible.

If sync is actually assigning the ip addresses to devices, I'd be willing to bet you could see the other devices in your truck network. I'd say the only way to know for sure is to test it out.
You could do some simple tests with a couple laptops both being connected. Once they're connected see if you can ping one from the other.
good luck!

Well I don't have a wdtv live and it's raining to hard to test in the truck but the good player is working to stream to ipad iPod from pc. BUT!! I found out they lost their license for the most popular audio codec so I can watch but not hear anything. I'm going to try and convert a few to something that it supports and try again. Just wanted to post before anyone else spent $3 on the app.

Can't really tell, your pics are extra small and my old eyes don't focus as well on the little type.
