2005lariat5.4

From my searches it says to leave the truck tuned but unplug the tuner before going for inspection. I couldn't find an answer on how long should I drive with it unplugged, or does it not matter. I'm assuming it doesn't matter but just wanted to check first so I don't throw the code.
