Default Ecoboost not a daily driver

Looking at buying a new F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Now this truck will not be a daily driver as i have a company car i drive to/from work each day. My friend told me since this isn't a daily driver the turbo in the ecoboost can build up condensation and rust. Is this true? I cant find any information to back that claim but just want to be sure. What do you guys think?

Ooooooofffff. Your friend was partially correct.

Ecoboost condensate- generated in intercooler due to very high efficiency. The condensate puddles inside and get ingested under boost blowing out spark. This is the misfire/stutter. Also causes cats and o2 sensors to fail.

Also need to worry about cam phaser failure (cold start rattle), throttlebody failure, spark plugs changed every 20k-30k miles, fuel in oil dilution... etc.

I would not recommend.

I've never heard that myth before? I only put about 1000 miles per year on my Grand National and that's never happened. Sometimes my Ecoboost F150 sits for a couple weeks at a time during the winter.

I've got a 2016 3.5 Ecoboost, and the galvanized steel muffler already has quite a bit of rust on it and I've only got less than 1300 miles on the truck. Just swung by the dealer today and caught my salesman taking a smoke break outide and he said that rust on that is very typical and noral for the above stated reasons. The extra condensation from the intercoolers and turbo create that extra rust. He even said that new unpurchased trucks on the lot already have rust, so it's normal.

Personally, I'm more worried about the sun coming up in the morning.
