Default Ecoboost gas milage

I just got a new Ecoboost and have about 500 miles on it so far. I'm averaging about 16 mpg so far on the highway. What should I expect in the future? I was hoping for at least 20 on the hw.

My 2012 Ecoboost 4x4 Screw 3.55 with 6.5 bed has a lifetime average of over 19 mpg at
at 22,000 miles. I take more long trips then most do. When I am staying at home and only doing short trips, I average 16.5. Keep your tires inflated to the maximum, it makes a big difference. Short trips, stop and go kills mileage.

11 screw 4x4 EB with 3.55 31k miles
I get almost 23 highway over Long trips
I live 2 miles from work and it stays 19-19.1
I don't hammer it at the lights. Stick tires at 40lbs.
I would like to eek out some more maybe get 24-25 but I have not read if an upgrade in air intake or exhaust would make a difference.
I did read that a gotts mod would help with a 1 or so mpg increase
I love my truck. Runs and handles great. I can wait to get into some snow and some questionable terrain.

If I may hijack the thread (sorry) I am soon to upgrade my tires. Do I go Goodyear silent armor, flaken a/t, nitto terra grapplers?? I don't wanna lose too much mileage with tires upgrade.

I would think as your motor breaks in more the mpg will improve.

2012 FX2 Screw with 3.55 and 10,000 miles.
When I first got mine, I watched the MPG indicator and drove it like it was made of glass. I think I got around 17. I got tired of not having fun, so I turned the MPG indicator off and just had fun with it.
The next time I checked it, with normal driving, I was getting 18+.
I took it on a 250 mile round-trip at about 8,000 miles and averaged 22 one way and 21 the other (small hills and wind, I assume). I have 2000 miles towing a 7200# travel trailer and my lifetime is around 15.
Stop looking at the mileage indicator and drive it for another 2500 miles. Then check it again.
If yours is like mine, you will be pleased.

I have a 2011 fx4 with the EB 3.73 4x4 6.5ft with approx 23000km running Goodyear duratrac 10ply and have noticed better fuel economy since new. I now average 17 mpg (us) and have got up to 24 mpg (us) hwy. Love the power of this truck!
