Default Eco vs 5.0

OK so first thread and it probably the 101st thread about which engine to buy.So I am looking at a 16 Platinum 4X4. The two dealers I am looking at one has an ECO the other has the 5.0. Depending on which dealer I go to depends on what answer I get. So I did some research and the ECO makes me a little nervous. Cost to repair, supposed gas mileage lost on highway speeds, towing may not be what they say. Id like some real world input.
Thanks

Can't chime in with engine input because I don't have either engine but if you don't get any responses here, try here instead (not now, give it a day or two):

did you really just start another ECO vs 5.0 thread? did you even take half a second to search or browse this forum? the only reason I say this is because you will get nothing but the same "my wiener is bigger than yours" answers.
if you are really considering the two engines, I would a) drive them both and see if that's enough to sway you one way or the other, b) pick the one that is being sold by the best dealer of the two.
cost to repair: same, unless you get a lemon of one or the other
mileage: same, unless you get a lemon of one or the other
towing: same, unless you get a lemon of one or the other
reliability: same, unless you get a lemon of one or the other

HA Yep I did, But looking at 3.6 vs 5.0, most threads I have found were 2.7 vs 5.0. Thanks for the response. To be honest both drive the same to me, I cant tell any difference but maybe that's because my daily driver is a scat pack.

then if you cant tell a difference, are OK with either engine, really do buy from the dealer you feel most comfortable with. the chances of something going wrong with either engine / truck are slim, but still exist, and a good dealer will be more important than an extra .35mpg or 48 lbs less of payload!

Ditto - it's a good question.

I have a 2015 XLT with the 3.5 ecoboost. Seems to have plenty of power, and gas mileage was much better than my last truck. I have a buddy with the 5.0, and he swears by his.

In terms of real world gas mileage, when...
- towing a 3500lb load, we were getting 14.7 MPG
- in mixed city, highway driving, we were getting 19.6 MPG
- in highway driving, we were getting 22.6 MPG

Huge improvement on our old one.

We went with the 3.5 ecoboost becuase of the towing capacity it offered, and because the engine has been around since 2011, without any significant history of problems that we could find. It isn't a brand new engine at this point.

The reason that there is so much arguing over which is the better engine is because neither is the better engine...They are both excellent engines. I prefer the 5.0 if for no other reason than the sound of it. I have 74,000km on mine and I can't help but smile every time I punch the gas. I can't wait to change the muffler just so I can add a little volume to it.

This may sound funny but try a used 5.0 with about 70,000km on it. Mine seemed to take forever to break in but once it did the performance really picked up.

How is this thread different from any other Eco vs 5.0 thread?
