Looking to buy a 2018 f150 this summer. 2.7L with the 10 speed or 3.5L with the 6 speed and why? I do tow but nothing over 4k.

Do you mean a 2018 with the N/A 3.3L V-6?

No i have seen that there is a 3.5 eco boost and a 2.7. In reading the reviews the 3.5 offers slightly more hp (50) but the 2.7 paired with the 10 speed got really good reviews too. Just looking for any insight on the options from real owners

If you're looking at a 2018 EcoBoost, no matter what engine, it will have a 10sp trans.

If you don't plan on towing often, or tow heavy weights (say 6k lbs or less), the 2.7 will be ideal.

If you do plan on towing often, or heavier weights (6500 lbs +), look at the 3.5.

agree with this^. the 2.7 will have the best fuel economy. probably not while towing though. I would go with the 2.7 if your not towing heavy or not very often

I like my 2.7 2018. The 10 speed is so smooth. It has plenty of power. Auto start stop that defaults to on. Theres ways around that if it bothers you. The 2.7 cost less as well. The 3.5 is the top of the line f150 engine. If you are buying used, just get the best truck for the money. 3.5 or 2.7 and dont be afraid of the lil 2.7.

The 2.7 is a great engine very responsive and powerful. The one thing to be careful of though is that unless you get a long bed the 2.7 comes on the small frame and will have a much lower payload rating. Depending on how your option the truck and how your cargo load looks this could cause you to be overloaded towing your 4K trailer.
