Here is my easy installation on my old 09 FX4. 2x2 with eye bolts to clip the flag onto, stuck into the rear stake pockets, lag screw with a vinyl washer through the hole on the inside of the bed and into the 2x2.



My new 2017 doesn't have the hole from the bed into the stake pocket for the lag screw, and I'm not read to start drilling into the new bed yet. I popped out the tails and used the open holes in the side of the posts at the rear of the bed. Put lag bolts through the 2x2 and put the nuts in the area behind the tail light (used nylon washers at all points of contact with the aluminum bed to prevent oxidation). Similar look, just can't fly them with the tonneau closed anymore. Working on coming up with another solution, may have to go with these whips or get out the drill.
