Default Truck Battery Drain While Parked

My truck (08 Ford F150 Harley Davidson) runs dead after about a week. Ford dealer had my truck for over a week running various tests. Ended up buying a new battery and alternator and as well, they claim the ran a parasitic test and learned the light in my tonneau cover (which doesnt even work), was draining my battery while my truck was parked for about 4-7 days. Their solution was to pull the fuse out. I ended up changing the cover for other reasons and after spending $700 for that work, my truck still drains in the same amount of time without even driving it. Incredibly frustrating. Anyone ever had this problem and can u please share what the fix was? thnx much

Short or something probably, any other wiring mods? I had a cheap hack job aftermarket remote starter install in a 95 blazer that would drain the battery in about three days

Have an OEM Remote starter. Nothing new installed at all and had run fine until the past couple months with this new problem. Theyve run test after test..

That's sucks, those drains can be hard to track down, only about a million wires in these trucks, lol

Put a un-powered test light between the negative post of the battery and the negative battery cable. If the light lights up, you have a draw. Make leads to reach inside the truck to see the light. Pull fuses until u find the circuit responsible. Then troubleshoot.

Possible harness short. I've already had one poorly made (factory) connection cause a display unit to short out. My battery drain issue seems to be gone. No more amp reading from the battery when it is off. Potential fire hazard also. Good luck

I agree with this, me and a friend of mine tracked down a short in the stock audio system wiring on his old explorer this way.

Im taking my truck back into the Ford dealer tonight. I will mention that possibility. The funny thing is that my OEM back up camera vid doesnt turn on sometimes. Maybe its related. I wonder how much more $ their gonna soak me for on top of the $700 excluding the new battery I bought and installed in my original attempt to get my truck started. This truck is a $ pit. It only has 90kms on it and the motor had to be replaced for some reason at 87kms. It drove fun, was rough at idle and that was their diagnoses. good thing it was covered under warranty (which is gone now)

Finally got my drain fixed on my 2004 F150 STX and it turned out to be the factory CD changer. I was so frustrated I took it to the dealer to find the drain. I also seen others mention it in these forums. Even though the radio was turned off the CD changer was running some continuous scan. The dealer pulled fuse #31 and sure enough the drain was gone. I bought a aftermarket radio and now all is fixed. Whew....that was a pain the the azz!
