  • Resonator

  • Muffler
the mufflers we have are NOT straight through and I have the video to prove it.

you WILL gain mpg's with a flow through muffler.

Wait, so even if we install a full aftermarket 3" cat-back, we are still bolting it to a 2.5" collector??

At least for the 2009-2010 single exhaust V8s they are (straight-thru).

Can't speak-for the others.

Yeah, pretty much. If you have a good shop, they can put on a dual 2.5 - to - single 3" merge. Would be a good set-up for one of those fire-breathin' 5.0 Coyotes. On a 5.4 Triton, i might step down the after-cat pipes to 2.25"

If'n you wanna get stupid, keep it dual 2.5, to an X, to dual tails. Add mufflers to taste. That would have a nice rip to it.

Busy day.

I would *think* that a reputable aftermarket exhaust would supply the downstream flange as 3".

They took mine, cut off the 2.5 tubing, then put the flange on an hydraulic expander... I joked with them that I was going to bust out the dial calipers, but was assured that the flange i.d. was 3" and that, previously, 2.5" tubing had been factory-flared then welded on. It's all 3" now from the collector flange to the tailpipe.

Here are the before and after photos...

Question: Why did you put both a resonator and the 70-series. Isn't the 70-series pretty quiet as it is? How is that aftermarket resonator compared to the stock resonator with the Flowmaster?

They are not the same, I just looked down the end of my stock exhaust 2013 and it's straight thru.
