A spray-in liner definitely looks great, but will still dent if you drop something heavy enough on it.
I chose a plastic drop-in liner because I can drop a concrete block from 4 feet above, and there won't be any dent in the box. It may scuff up the plastic liner a bit, but the aluminum bed won't have a mark on it.

Try the Dualliner. I just installed one in mine (18 Screw V8) and am very pleased with it.

I used to sell drop in liners, they cause terrible wear under them. I took quite a few out for warranty work and the wear was worse than not have anything in the box, you'd have to haul gravel 24/7 to cause worse wear than some I saw. My current truck has a spray in liner and it works great.

Spray in then a cheap rubber mat, best of both worlds.

I second this. I currently dont have a spray in, just the rubber mat which is incredible at what it does. Soon i plan on getting my bed Linex'd and then placing the rubber mat back in

You bring up a good point....most of us don't really need a liner. Their big benefit is they provide a surface that will look good year after year. My first 2 trucks didn't have liners. The beds got dented and the finish was worn down to the primer, even scratched to bare metal in a few places but it really didn't change the structural integrity of the bed. It just didn't look as nice.

My reasons for Drop In over Spray On liner:
Drop In
1. Easy to clean and remove
2. Prevents dents
3. Water runs in the ridges
4. Doesn't fade
5. I would rather slide things into the bed than have to climb into the bed and lift things on a grippy bed.
5. Aluminum beds will not rust with a Drop In
6. Oh you can get them for free....from those wanting to pay $450 for Spray In
7. Oh, and if you choose not to wax under the drop in and the paint scratches, at a later date you can get a Spray In and you wont have to sand as much...LOL

Spray In
1. Costly at $450
2. They fade
3. I would rather be able to slide stuff into and out of without always having to lift things off of a rough surface
4. All brands chip and allow dents
5. Spray In does look nice when you add the Fade Protectant...

Since you took the only available one in my zip code (98391), I have to go spray in.

Actually the dealer threw in a spray in to close the deal.

I have cleaned used trucks under liners and you would be amazed what gets caught under there and grinds or percolates for years (gravel, pine needles, yard waste, soil, motor oil, brick fragments). Could not get rid of a funky smell from that in my last truck.

Not against drop ins as long as you clean under them yearly. Also don't let water pond and stagnate in them.

I second the Duraliner ! Best of both worlds, plastic type drop in sides, front and tailgate and solid rubber mat for the floor.
