Default Drivetrain whine

I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4. It has developed a whine that I can't figure out. It feels like maybe its coming from the transmission but I can't pinpoint it. It is getting worse though. Its a pulsing whine that seems to be attached to the truck speed and not RPM. I have seen others ask about this but I have not heard a solid answer as to what it is. Any help would be appreciated! here is what it sounds like.

Neat video. Not sure what Ford considers normal movement of the driveshaft but it seemed excessive to me. With all this (in and out)movement the pinion shaft relationship to the ring gear is changing and the "whine" noise may be being generated from inside the differential. I would start looking there first.

The ring and pinion are fixed position. How does the relationship between the two change? I would guess the in and out movement of the driveshaft is suspension related and the reason every drive line has a slip yoke somewhere

arronm, remove the drive shaft, put it in gear and run the rpm up. If the noise is gone it's from your driveshaft back. If it still does it it's probably the transmission. If the truck has a carrier bearing I'd put money on that.

Yes, carrier bearing maybe. I remember it from my '76 and '79 F100's.
