They were seriously gonna charge me 100 bucks to pop off the fuse box cover and read the number.

you might have just made my day !! i bought my truck used as well and the damn dealer didnt know the code and the local ford dealership wants 265 dollars to give me the code and a new spare key cause the dealer only had one key for it soo i hope to god mine is in the same place

No they would've gotten the laptop and used IDS to pull the KC. We charge 49.95 to pull the code, the software isn't cheap you gotta pay for it someway. But I agree the salesman should have pulled it before you took delivery.

i looked where you said but my code wasnt there then i did some research on google and found out that in 2008s the code is behind the backseat on the back wall behind the carpeting it was a pain in the a** getting the back seat out but once you figure it out it takes 5 seconds. now i cant get the back seat back in to clip back in

From what I've seen on google, the codes are all over the place, depending on what year it is. Mine is an 11', and the info I found said it was under the bsm module under that kickpanel, but it was on the top.
