Do you need weight in the back for winter driving?
This is my first f150 after 24 years of driving Ranger 4 x 4 's. I NEVER put weight in the back of my truck and had no problems driving in N.E. Ohio winters. Should I consider putting weight in the back of my new 2012 F150?

i put 360 pounds in my bed but i was out and about pulling people outa ditches all day so i upped it a little more as the day wore on...but with 360 in the bed it drove really well and hooked up.

When I shovel my driveway any snow around my truck goes in the bed to weigh it down some and it also gives me another place to put the snow

With a 4x4 nope. Roads are bad then 4 by she goes.

i have a 200lb cab on the back, plus 240lb behind the steering wheel, plus junk (towrope/jumper cable/box of tools/stuff)
got winter tires (bridgestone blizzak), waiting for me to put them on. no problem |
It certainly isn't necessary, since you should be in 4x4 and driving slow if roads are really slick. It wouldn't hurt anything though. I'm thinking about throwing a few 40lb bags of kitty litter over my axles just as a precaution.

Well doesnt matter if you have weight or snow tires if you hit ice...... found that one out in my car (luckily)

I never added any wieght in the bed all I ever do is keep the fuel tank full....I forget how much a gallon of gas weighs but a full tank does add a little weight..

Gallon of gas is somewhere around 8 pounds
