Dirtbag punched my lock

Hello everyone! Long time Ford owner. My family has owned a Focus, Explorer, Expedition and on my 4th F150. There's 4 drivers in my family so calm down. :D My current is a 2012 F150 Ecoboost. Love it. However, we moved into our new home and after a month, some idiot tried to steal it last night. Keep in mind they are not the brightest person since I live in the south and it is no secret that I hunt and own guns. A 1:30am car alarm will get me out front pretty quick with a gun in hand. Even managed to get on a pair of shorts. So enough of the background and on to the problem. They jammed a screwdriver into the drivers door lock and forced it down hard to pop the door lock open. Naturally, that doesn't disable the alarm, so it sounded when they opened the door. I've had it happen on cars before and just replaced the lock at my own cost. But I'm wondering if anyone knows of another option. I have remote entry so a keyhole is sort of useless to me. And replacing it just to have it popped again isn't the brightest idea. Due to the size I can't park in the garage. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read the novel and feel free to shoot me/post any ideas or thoughts you have.

well did the guy at least sh*t his pants when he saw you? haha you left out all the good parts like that.:D jk. If I were you i would park it in the back yard if you could, that's about all i can think off.

They make a cover to go over it to prevent that from happening. Not sure what they are called but try googling it.

Thanks for the quick responses so far. First, while I am southern, I'm not a big enough redneck to glue a dime on the door of a 2012 truck. As for the confrontation....didn't actually catch them. If I had, they would have been walking with a permanent limp. Since I and my neighbor were out quick...neighbor was awake watching tv and outside in seconds....they couldn't have gone far. My guess is they were laying in the bushes or trees in the area next door that hasn't been cleared yet. But I'm sure they saw my son with a shotgun and myself and the neighbor with pistols. Absolutely nothing in sight inside the truck. Only thing of any value in there is the charging cord for my cell phone and a blanket under the back seat. My guess is they were planning to steal the truck. A lot of issues with stolen trucks being used to ram beauty shops to steal hair or trucks used to steal ATM's. Guess they thought the Ecoboost would give them a little more power. LOL.

LOL sorry to hear about the break though, that really sucks. and I agree with you, I'm southern but i don't think i could glue a dime on a nice expensive truck like that. I think your best bet would be to park it in a fenced in area on your property.

Dime was just an example, as stated they make a plug that fits the hole. And I'm also a southern non redneck, well some say I'm a high tech redneck LOL.

I've seen some pretty slick set ups where even the door handle is non existent some call it shaved, you press a button on the fob and the door unlocks and pops open at the same time. Just prey your battery never goes dead.

Oh and put up CCTV cams on your house, then you can sue the ass holes for damages when they are identified.

I have an 8 camera dvr system just waiting to go online soon as I can breath inside the attic, gawd it's been hot.

Thanks everyone. Did a little search and found two things here. One is a dead link but the other is about door plugs. Already emailed them to find out options. Thought it was funny though when I saw the pop up ad here on the forum that was for wireless security cameras. LOL. I know it wasn't on purpose but that's rubbing it in.
