Default Diesel f150

Hello I'm new to these forums and I have a question for anybody who might want to answer any news of a possible diesel f150 coming out?

If you can't buy it, build it. I plan on shoe-horning a Cummins 4BT in my beater once its paid off!

my 5.4 has close to 90,000 miles on it already so someday i will most likely do a 6.0 or 6.4 swap in mine. just build it as a mild street/ strip truck.

I thought they were pretty serious about the f-100, like 2011 serious. I could be mistaken on that though.

On a side note, I think a diesel 150 would be pretty sweet...but I wouldn't buy one. My commute to work isn't long enough, short drives don't bode well for a diesel.

just read an article the other day that said ford is gonna wait a few more years for the diesel and instead they are putting the twin turbo eco-boost in, the eco-boost will be a cheaper option than the diesel and will get like 23mpg and like 380hp

After reading lots of info on the web about a diesel in a 1/2 ton, it looks like Chevrolet is the most promising about coming out with the first 1/2 ton diesel. I think the main scare and hesitation for the diesel in the 1/2 ton comes down to sales. I think Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are scared that this will hurt their sales in the 3/4 ton trucks. A whole lot of people out there just buy 3/4 tons to get the diesel engine. More people buy 3/4 ton trucks today than they ever did 15 years ago because of the popularity of the diesel engines. So this means if Ford makes a half ton diesel, the people that usually buy a 3/4 ton diesel that dont really need a super duty truck will stop buying those and go to the more effiecient 1/2 ton diesel. The only people that will still buy 3/4 ton diesels will be those that need the extra payload in the bed for a goose neck or 5th wheel trailer or those that actually pull heavy enought loads to need a bigger truck.
Basically they are making more money off of a 3/4 diesel truck than they would from a 1/2 ton diesel truck. And today, the 3/4 ton market is huge because of the diesel. What will happen to that market when they make a diesel available in a half ton?
