"Attention to detail was given to email the smallest parts and features"
"Couldn't simply not put out a reply" that's a gross misuse of a double negative.

Where do you suggest they put it? Maybe they exhausted all other options, as this is a truck, with a tailgate, and the style of said tailgate probably does not flow with a larger camera lens plopped somewhere so that it doesn't ever get wet. Have you seen the back of a truck during a snowstorm? Covered. This isn't a hatchback or an SUV that has a large handle on the rear end you can sneak a camera into.

You're almost as bad as that guy who bought a new XLT then cried about how it had traction control, RSC and too many features he didn't want.

I would love a 3.5L EcoBoost with more fueling. I would love for them to fix the PCV system. I would love for them to not have rear windows that shatter with the defroster. I would love for them to have a perfectly functioning intercooler. I would love for them to solve the slip yoke thumping when taking off from a stop.
I'm not sheeple. There is a lot of room for improvement on these trucks. A backup camera that stays perpetually dry is a stupid ****ing gripe to have. It's so god damn nit picky it's ridiculous. I'm about as **** about my truck as they come and you won't find me whining about something like that.

I suppose it is nitpicking, but it would be nice

Personally, I believe this dirty camera lens issue to be a function of aerodynamics, not a design flaw. The back of these huge squarish vehicles creates a pretty nasty vortext behind it; big SUVs are even worse. Try keeping the back of an Explorer clean in the Pacific NW. Any attempts to shroud the lens would render its FOV useless, and might prove useless in solving the problem anyway.

Double negatives are so important in today's society. Two negatives make a positive, right?

I get your point from your next post, there are obviously many things that some would love to change about a truck. But this is a design flaw. The feds are going to require this feature on all vehicles going forward.

For those asking about RainX. I did put a coating on about a week ago and it didn't last. As other's indicated, it isn't so much the water as much as it's the dirt and road grime making it's way on to the lens.

I have an appointment for the truck in 3 weeks when I get the Snugtop XTR installed to add wheel liners and mud flaps. I'm hoping that mitigates some of the tire spray.

Exclamation Warning! Rant Ahead!

Seeing a bit of back and forth here over this...would just like to point something out...

This is the same camera factory installed on my father's 2014 Texas Edition Tundra. To be clear, he lives in the Houston area around Cypress and Katy and we all make frequent trips up to Davy Crockett Forest to our bit of country family land up there. Anyone who has been in the Houston area for an extended time knows how absolutely horrible the weather here can be, especially with regard to rain. When it rains, it pours, it floods, and it keeps anyone without a lift kit from going anywhere. On top of that, sometimes we get that "Acid rain" from our oh so kind Mexicans down below our border as well as the crap blowing in from freakin' Africa somehow. Oh, and did I mention the hurricanes? Yea, we get those as well. And up in the forest, all sorts of crap gets thrown all over our trucks.

All of that being said, he has never once had to go clean the lens of his camera since he bought it brand spankin' new off the lot back in 2013. He has put 130k miles on it so far with frequent trips to Louisiana and Mississippi for work, and even then when he puts it in reverse the picture is clear and crisp as ever.

So you could argue the "Stop whining about it, its a truck!" route...OR you could look and see that Toyota got this thing right, look back over at Ford and say "Hey! It ain't the truck or the weather's fault that this crap happens, its something your doing wrong, so FUING FIX IT"

I love my 10th gen and will do everything in my power to keep it until the day it finally quits on me 100%, but speaking as a hard working blue collar boy who has had to work for every single penny I have ever had...I see no problem in using a valid and accepted media (this forum) to inform the makers of your product (Ford) that the product they are making (F150) is experiencing issues and that you would love it if they didn't have those issues.

Truck or no, its still your property...something you worked hard to pay for. I see no issue in trying to get it to be the best it can be. When the shingles on my house started falling off, i didn't just go "Well its a roof, it sees alot of wind and rain and stuff...i should just get over it" I fuing fixed the dmn roof.

To everyone else, sorry for the rant...but seeing people like this just puts me on a level of irritation that i rarely achieve. I hate "settlers", aka people who just settle for the status quo and have no care to improve upon things. As far as I am concerned, those with no points to add beyond stating the obvious and then stating we are idiots for expecting more out of our products...should just be quite and let the adults finish talking.

Agreed! Other manufacturers don't have this issue. Ford does. Hopefully they're listening. Amen.

Take a look at the camera location on the 2015, and then take a look at the camera location on the 2011, and then compare it to your dad's be all end all Tundra. The 2015 location may leave a little to be desired, and it may not have as pronounced a slanted hood as the Tundra but the angle of the lens is the same. Now look at the 2011. THE CAMERA IS IN THE DAMN BLUE OVAL COMPLETELY SURROUNDED AND SHIELDED and the same stuff happens.
I believe your dad has never had to clean his, probably because the Tundra doesn't have a high enough MP camera or sharp enough screen to really notice the difference when there is rain water and road grime covering it. This is simple physics people, you cannot keep the rear of a vehicle clean as it travels down the road. It wasn't possible then, it isn't possible now, but I hope to god someone figures out a way to do that will make you people happy.

I don't know if any of you have driven a newer Tundra or Chevy 1500 with a backup camera, but both look like crap due to the angle and camera element used. Even my mom's Tahoe that had an (almighty) MSRP much higher than your new truck has a lower resolution image than my truck does.

Lastly, why isn't anyone crying about how the front camera for the 360 view might get dirty when you drive your truck? Or do none of you have that feature?

Razgriz, a better analogy would be, the shingles on your roof are falling apart, but the painting on the wall in the guest bedroom that no one ever sleeps in is slightly crooked, so you make it your mission to make sure that painting is true to every corner in that room but the shingles are still falling apart and now its raining in your house.

I never really thought about it, my 2007 GMC I had the camera in the handle on the tailgate. I had to clean that as well.

You got a lemon OP
You should trade in on a Subaru or Tundra ASAP
