10 years ago trucks didn't even have back-up cameras, now in 2016 we complain that they aren't self cleaning. Then we make self proclaiming statements like "well if we don't complain nothing will ever be done about it".....or that Ford has 7 man engineering teams for parking safety, yet here we are , stuck having to wipe off a camera lens. Some like to spend more time complaining, when it takes 2 seconds to wipe off the lens. I have a good paying union job and some co-workers actually work harder to try and get out of work, than if they would have just done the work in the first place. To say Ford never tested their back-up camera is crazy, of course they did.

Lol nooooooooo don't use baby wipes on glass! My little siblings made that mistake. They thought they were being nice baby wiping the interior before a road trip, baby wiped all the glass and its basically like a fogged up window that defroster can't fix lol

Default New member interested in a solution for the rear view camera

Sorry about the late post to this thread. I have a 2015 XL loaded I might add except for the rear view camera and remote starter. So I'm interested in adding a rear view camera and am glad I saw the OP post about "did Ford test their cameras. I personally don't think they did for lots of reasons. First of all they made tons of improvement to the 2015 and a rear view camera was not at the top of their priority list. I worked for Ford on the line for thirty-six years so I have some kind of idea as to their thinking in terms of priorities. I read all fourteen pages and all mud slinging aside some Ford engineers might look at this sight but Ford does not run it or own it. I read all fourteen pages hoping to find a solution because apparently there is a real safety problem when water gets on the lens. I'm not talking about dirt, I'm talking about plain old water. I saw a couple of posts stating that the Toyota Tundra and Subaru did not have this problem and then on the thirteenth page there was a comment that the person's Jeep did not have the problem with water but his F 150 rear view camera was flawed because when it got wet it was useless. This is a real safety problem and in a few years all vehicles will have rear view cameras maybe then Ford will look more closely at their rear view cameras until then I may just have to use my side mirrors. and rear view mirror. I stopped and looked at some aftermarkets cameras and they are the same as the OEMs. I was just wondering if the bezels that hold the lens in were thicker that might help to keep the water off the lens. Thanks for all the posts.

I had the same problem with my Ram. Anytime it rained, the camera was useless. I just assumed they were all like that.
