The idiots in government only do this because the farm lobby pushes for it. Being paid NOT to grow something is mind boggling, but the government does it because the industry lobbies for it. Same as dumping milk down the drain because prices aren't good, so they limit supply to raise price, and guarantee minimums to farmers.

lots of roads you wouldn't be going 75 on, unless you wanted to end up in the pickers. Lots of these are big wide straight roads and if you didn't grow up driving around here, that first deer that jumps out of the wooded ditch and puts you into a tree because you lost it will help remind you to slow down on those low visability roads. if the first one doesn't do it, the next few months will give you a hundred more reminders

Wish I was doing 14MPG right now... I've been doing 9 to 10 MPG for the last 2 fuelups (-40F temperature outside...). Mostly city driving, light foot on the gas pedal, almost no boost at all.

The supply & demand law is a pretty simple concept. Authorities controlling the supply is pretty disturbing though. Diamonds are the perfect example; that big rock on your wife's ring you paid 10 000$ would be worth 10$ if all diamonds extracted from the ground would be available on the market. They keep all of 'em hidden somewhere.

I would think the bulk of US made ethanol goes to making the oxygenated fuels many metro areas require. This fuel blend gets lower mpg really negating it's lower emissions. It is a perfect example of an idea that really doesn't work but once implemented is impossible to remove or change. Total political and big money hot potato.
