Dealer Emission Cleaning
Took 2016 (eco-boost) in yesterday b/c it was running a bit rough. Guy told me that they will reset the computer (I have read that some 2016 and 2017 have a recall/SB on this)..But then he said they might need to do a Emissions System Cleaning. Never heard of that..and they want $120.00..looking for feedback on is this necessary, scam, etc...

Call Ford and ask them! Dealers have been warned about selling non recommended service!

If recommended in the owner's manual it is a legitimate maintenance item
If not recommended in the owner's manual it is a "money grab" by the dealership. The only caveat is if you routinely use non-Top Tier fuel when you fill up.

Buy a bottle of redline fuel injection cleaner or techron. Both contain PEA (polyetheramine). Gumout makes a product with it as well. It is really the only chemical that can help, but i would think your truck doesn't need any cleaning at this point.

Snake oil. They're going to pour a can of overpriced fuel system cleaner into the tank, charge you $120 for it, and laugh to the bank.

What they did not tell him, was more than likely, all they did was disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so.
Not familiar with Eco but, change air filter, clean the throttle body as described here and throw in a Techron cleaner. Go from there.

I think what that $120 Emission Cleaning is probably dribbling some type of injector cleaner in the throttle body while the engine is running.
The major part of the cost is likely the technicians time removing the necessary parts and then baby sitting the whole operation for a while.
Its a notch better than just dumping a can of injector cleaner in the fuel tank.
I'd ask them exactly what do you do when you Emission Clean?
If all they do is pour a can of injector cleaner in the fuel tank, forget it, you can do that your self for a few dollars.
