yep, both ways, and then tried the passenger door only to learn the passenger door does not have a lock to unlock...this past week has been a real learning experience for me, and by the way, I am the mom of the kid who let the battery go dead in it after I told him to go get a new one...

oh yeah. Really don't want to increase the cost of this 'lesson' by having to pay someone to get the hood open.

I will say that unless you know what you are doing, the damage you cause may be a heck of a lot higher that paying someone to open the truck. Just my 2 cents...

Pirate, it's under warranty. If I were you, I would call the dealer. Tell him what's up, and to bring a flatbed to carry it to the service dept. If the manual lock doesn't work they need to fix it, and then they can charge or replace the battery. Either way, Good luck.

It's a 2004, I really doubt there is still a warranty on the truck.

The key should easily physically turn the lock, period. I've had these things apart, the solenoid that fires the lock mechanism electrically can be pushed in and out with no trouble.
No WAY the key doesn't work.

Probably frozen from lack of use. I have never used my key on my truck.

Get some PB Blaster and spray it in the lock, and keep working the key and spraying. Free the tumblers up and it will turn. May take some time and work.

I have an 08 and the key would not unlock the door. Removed door panel and found the cheap plastic retainer on the lock arm was broken and the rod to unlock the door had come of the arm. I agree the key should unlock the door even if the battery is dead.

Okay climb under the front end of the truck. Reach up and play with the latch until you release it
