Honestly dont know why you want to pay an excess of about 5 grand plus on a new truck, just on the interest alone, seems like a waste of money to me. I drive a 94 thats in perfect condition, with less than 60k on the clock. I have enough income that I can afford to make payments on a new truck, but I personally dont like wasting money or seeing my vehicles depreciate in value. People drive around in these old buckets cause they have better things to do with their money, i personally like to collect motorcycles, and for less than 5 grand I have a truck and two bikes that are in stellar condition. In reality if i were to buy a new truck i would be in it 25k and i would not be able to customize it like my current truck.

Nope just an old semi retired guy. My goal before retirement was to have everything paid off including my mortgage and own outright a new truck. My first one was 2008 and I trade every two years and pay cash or a short Ford loan to get the discount by financing with Ford. I never made big money and it took years of sacrifice to get to this point.

Once you have your truck paid off keep making your payment into your bank account monthly and don't buy another one until you can pay cash for it. Always pay cash.

My current truck has been paid off for several months. I'm working on my future truck payment. Way I see it is I will keep my 2010 for ~10 years and/or ~200k miles. So in order to be able to buy a $40k truck outright when I reach that point, I need to put aside $4k every year or $2k every 10k miles.

Just don't do what I did and jump into another note because you have all this cash suddenly burning a hole in your pocket.

I love how the guy says he laughs when people don't want payments.

I have a 95. But I can put 20k into it, have a one of a kind, perfect running classic. Which will blow the doors off of any other truck.

And I still won't have a payment!!

My '87 earns me just as much money as a '12 would, and it's mine. Plus new vehicles are ugly and have way too many intrusive electronics.
