I know you read threads about how the transmission learns and that takes a while, how high tire pressure from the factory affects ride (as well as tires needing a few hundred miles to break in), sport mode, etc.

When we were looking for a new car recently we drove the hybrid version, then the 1.5 liter turbo version, then the 2.0 liter turbo version (and NOT the 2.7 liter turbo because it's a rocket and gets crappy mileage...). I KNEW I would hate the 1.5 and I did, as did the wife. She accepted the hybrid (actually Energi electric and hybrid) for what she wants, way better MPG than the 2.0. We did that BEFORE opening the trunk and finding a 14" deep trunk (which we knew would be there).
Man, didn't realize how just needy and indecisive this kid was. Seems like a lot of reading, or actually driving the truck could have skipped right to the end of the never ending story.

This is my take on these things. It is an open forum, we share ideas, experiences, ask questions, get answers, and there is a ton of stuff to sort through. In the end, the same question is going to be asked over and over, but if they are one off kind of things, normally people help out and point in the right direction. Normally, it isn't brand new information no one has seen, but help none the less. When people are just too lazy to do some real research and post basically the same questions in different variations over and over, that's when people have a little less patience for that. I am going to guess that in all those posts, the "answer" to the question, if there was one, was on the forums already and with a little searching, could have been found.

More surprisingly was this last post to finally put a dagger in it. "I'm out!"

Good for you, you made a decision, we are all happy you went out, drove a truck, and decided it wasn't for you.

I agree as well, the new Ridgeline is a very good vehicle. Leaps and bounds better than my 14 F150, that is for sure. If I were in your position I would go test drive one. You will be impressed.

I had a Ridgy for 5 years before I traded it for my current F150. In retrospect, I probably should have kept it another 2 years and waited for the new Ridgeline to come out. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my current truck other than it too damn high off the ground Ford this old man, and the ride could be better. I love the FX4luxury pkg, and I love the coyote engine, although the mileage could be better, as I drive exclusively in a core urban light to light situation. No, I will not reprogram the computer, and the truck is plenty loud bone-stock. I have reached 4.5 years old and 22k miles, and I am starting to think about moving on. Maybe I have finally “outgrown” driving a pickup truck?

LOL.... apparently you are easily offended and your sense of self-worth is tied directly to the truck you drive. Pretty dopey way to stumble through life. All the time you are spending editing and re-editing your post to make yourself look superior could be better spent in therapy to discover why a negative review of an inanimate object causes you such consternation. Very odd.

Thanks... that actually crossed my mind when the new ones were first introduced.... but then I went to the North American International Auto show (Detroit) and saw one there.... checked it out.... as a designer, I just couldn't get past the appearance.... the aesthetics were all wrong for me. But the concept is definitely a valid one, and I know the vehicle has worked for a lot of people. Gotta believe the quality is far better than Ford too, honestly.

Good luck on your choice.

However This:

VS. This:

.

Those two statements combined make no sense to me. One engine is too fast/twitchy and the other too slow/gutless?
I can tell you the 5.0 is NOT a beached whale with no guts. I own one.

It amazes me all the past threads here where some people want a truck to drive like a Cadillac.
Its a truck designed to be capable to do truck things!
If people want a soft riding diarrhea suspension like a Cadillac then buy a Cadillac.
Linear and fast would be the best combo to me.... the Eboosts seemed almost 'spastic' in their throttle response. In back-to-back test drive comparison, hopping right out of the 'quirky but spirited' Eboosts, the 5.0 did seem very lethargic.... yet the 5.0 would still have been my pick if the truck's ride quality were better. Not looking for a Cadillac equivalent ride, but if you created Frankensteins' monster and combined the interior quality and layout of the 2019 RAM - along with the vastly superior ride quality of the RAM.....with the body of the Ford and it's 5.0 V8.... then that would be a winning combo. I was probably too extreme in my description of the 5.0..... again, if the ride quality would have been better, I probably would have lived with everything else and went with the V8. True, there will always be shortcomings.... because everyone has different ideals of what is important to them.

People are quick to choose sides based upon what they own, without reviewing the alternatives. I couldn't buy the RAM for the reasons in my original post above..... but I am objective enough - - along with having actually having test driven both brands.... to say that RAM is far ahead of ALL the other manufacturers in interior quality and ride in their 2019 redo. You won't read one professional review that doesn't have the reviewer stating this as a fact. Ford, GM, Toyota, and Nissan could all (and no doubt are scrambling) learn some lessons about interior materials quality and layout from the 2019 RAM. Again, I couldn't own a RAM because of their engine issues.... but the ride and interior is top notch.

It's easy to let looks sway our opinions. Back in 06 I was looking to replace my Ranger with a midsized crew cab. The Tacoma was at the top of my list and I thought about the Colorado as well. I kind or ruled out the Nissan Frontier because I thought it was dog ugly, but after being unimpressed with the Colorado and feeling like the Tacoma was a Camry with a bed after driving them both, I test drove a couple Frontiers. I'm glad I did, I loved the way it drove and ended up buying one and keeping it for 11 years, it's been the best vehicle I've owned. After a year or so I even stopped thinking it was ugly.

The Honda Ridgeline is a very good idea, certainly worth looking at the specs, if payload and towing capacity match what the Op needs, the rest of the truck may just fill in the blanks. Personally I'm a little anxious to see the new Mercedes Pickup truck. Not sure when it'll be released but I am definitely going to look into it.
