I've gone through 4 400s in my old '77 & '79 F250s. The most recent one is out of a Mercury Grand Marquis. I must have not gotten the flywheel bolts tightened enough or something. Shortly after starting, we heard this loud grinding popping noise. slid the tranny back and chunks of metal fell out. The flywheel now had 3 slots instead of 6(IIRC) bolt holes...oops

So.... Has the Coyote variant been out long enough to flush out any problems? Like how I got burned by the 4.6 Triton and it's spark pug, manifold and cam phaser issues?

Every engine has its teething problems but for the most part the Coyote has been solid. As an all around engine I think that it is one of the best engines out there.

I had the same torque converter/flywheel issue and the problem was that I used low grade bolts. I have also heard of guys re-using the stock bolts and having problems.

6 years isn't to far out of warranty period. The average driver has probably put around 90K miles so far? Yes it will flush out some problems, but I wanna see someone put 200K miles on it first... 200K work truck miles, not highway cruising!
Remember, it was at about 100K miles that the Tritons started becoming troublesome.

Mine runs good at 157k, but has the proverbial issues with coolant orings.

I'm betting that the Ford engine engineers learned from the issues of the Triton engines (cam phaser issues, spark plugs) to make sure these did not crop up in the latest series of engines.

I installed the Pegasus kit, but haven't touched the y connector yet. Here's the thread full of good info.

It hasn't had the toughest life since I bought it in November. I've put 11k miles on it, mostly commuter and interstate (80mph speed limit). Snowmobile in the box a couple times.
