Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT
So after months and months of thumbing through every post I could find on every size and brand of tire imaginable, I’ve finally made a decision.
There’s a pretty new tire out on the market (Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT) and I know it’s going to be a hot topic soon enough so I thought I would go ahead and start a new thread to try and answer some inevitable questions.
I will share my experiences with the tire through this thread, since I can’t find a lot of info at all on the internet about people who are actually running them. I feel initially that they’ll be a great alternative for those who want an aggressive looking tire but aren’t willing to dive into the world of the mud swampers, or are just looking to expand out from the norm of having KO2s, Duratracs, or Ridge Grapplers.
I will be installing 285/65r20s along with the Bilstein 5100 leveling struts and shocks on my 2016 F150 XLT FX4.
This metric measurement equates to 34.57 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide, and weight of 62 lbs for this tire specifically.
From the hundreds of posts I’ve read and comparing these tires’ specs with other brands’ specs, they should fit with the level with no running. We’ll find out for sure within the next week.
Anyways, I hope someone finds this thread helpful since I’ve now learned that finding the exact tire you want for your truck can be extremely frustrating.
Here’s a photo of how my truck sits now before the tires and level and I will update as soon and as often as possible.
Thanks!

I’ve been running the Cooper discoverer at3’s on my work truck for 2 years now. I’m on my second set, and I love them. They’re priced competitively and for an all terrain tire they’re really smooth and fairly quiet. I’ve never gotten stuck with 4WD and these tires plus I can get 60k miles out of them no problem.
Curious to see how the XLT version compares. I do like the more aggressive sidewall look on them

Trying to figure it out!
I have the AT3 (not the LXT version) with about 13k miles and they're great. This is the 3rd set of Coopers I've owned and unless they price themselves too high I will keep buying them.

I have about 5k on mine. Went from a st maxx that I loved but wanted to try something smaller and tamer. The XLT had just came out and I couldn't really find any pics on them, so I tried the falken at3w. made it 11k miles and threw a fit and the tire store credited me back almost all the purchase price, so I decided to be a guinnepig on the at3 xlt.
these tires are badass so far, and I've had them side by side to some normal at3, the xlt seem to have deeper and wider treat voids, yet roll smooth as glass and nearly dead silent.

Those look good, what size is that?
I've used the older version of the AT/3 on a couple of trucks. I had 55,000 on my Tacoma when I replaced them. I could have gotten another 5K or so,but winter was coming on and I wanted new tires before hunting season meant driving in mud and winter snows. The ones currently on my Ford have 41,000 miles on them and still have lots of tread. I'll be in the 50K range by November and will probably go ahead and replace them at that time for the same reason. One thing about a less expensive tire is that you don't feel like you have to drive them until you reach the last 1/32 of legal tread to get your moneys worth out of them. I've been pretty pleased with the traction, ride and lack of noise. The XLT should be even better.

The Hammer
I put the AT3 XLT's on my 2017 about 3 months ago. I only have about 4K miles on them, but I love them. I used to always get the Cooper ATP's, and I always had great luck with those. But I got a good deal on the AT3 XLT's and I'm glad I did. These tires look badass, grip everything well, including wet pavement, and are the quietest all terrain tire I've ever had. I have not had them in snow since I'm in the Phoenix area, but I hear they do well there too. My ATP's always did great in snow, so I believe it. I have the Bilstein 5100s on the 2nd highest setting and 315/70R17 tires on Raptor beadlock wheels. They are heavy, but they're an E rated tire, so I expected the extra heft. 5 stars for me on these, much better and quieter than the BFG All Terrains I took off for them.
