Console shifter vs. steering column shifter

Console shifter all the way

The center console regardless of shifter option forces you into the bucket seats. Which, are far more comfortable IMO. Just all boils down to priorities and preference.

Yes, it also not only changes the shifter location, but the seats you get. Bucket seats are a big preference.

I don't think this is true with the 09 and newer trucks. With the "bench" seat, the center seat is separate from the driver & passenger seats. And as far as I've been able to tell, the passenger and driver seats are the same whether you have the console or center seat. Although, there may be a difference in the seats on the higher trim levels vs lower trim levels.

Ahhh you very well may be right. I was thinking of the buckets in my 13 lariat. Didn't consider trim levels alone would count for much difference but your probably right.

It's a comfort thing to me. I rest my hand on it.. drove a standard for a while

I have a 2014 FX4 with the floor shifter. I prefer the floor shifter for looks and "ease of use". However, I do have an issue with it, which is that it makes reaching some of the lower front console buttons/***** like the AC temps, fan, etc. It also makes reaching into the little storage area in front of the shifter difficult at times (mainly when in park). For those reasons, I'd prefer the column shifter purely from a functional standpoint ... but I HATE the look of a column shifter, and wouldn't ever be happy with it.
