I have a 2008 F150 with only 15k miles. According to the dealership, a valve lifter broke resulting in a cracked valve which they diagnosed as damaging the cylinder. They have indicated i need to replace the engine. Ford has indicated the powertrain warranty expired a few months ago and therefore they will not assist with cost. Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem with low mileage or had any experience with warranty assistance with low mileage? If i need a new truck, i am hesitant to purchase another Ford without extended warranty given i don't use the vehicle that often. I am a new member to this forum so apologies if i didn't include this in correct forum. Thanks,

Warranty applies to miles or months which ever comes first. My guess would be you are out of luck for warranty work.

15,000 miles on a 2008? That's crazy maybe it's at 1,015,000 miles

Your issue is quite rare. Especially with so few miles.
You ask "If i need a new truck" ? Why get a new truck when replacing an engine is much less $$. It really sucks that you missed the warranty deadline.

I don't know, I think I'd be calling a lawyer. Especialy scince it's only a few months out of warranty and such low miles. If it was a year or more, then yea, maybe I could see them being a stickler about it. That's only a 5 year old truck.

If they're correct in their diagnosis it's a very uncommon failure, to be honest I think I'd look for a 2nd opinion.

Hey, I'm not advocating someone sue every time they stub their little toe. It's just sometimes we need ligation to make things right. The OP is not out to "get rich off Ford" He just wants his motor fixed.

Ford lawyer will make sure the plaintiff goes broke before ever getting the case to court by moving the dates back, so unless you got a lawyer working for free good luck. And even then warranty is expired... No warranty left... So yes do the American thing and 'lawyer up' you got a real shot at winning hahaha

See if they will assist you under a "Good Will" policy. They may offer to split the labor, pay for parts if you pay for labor or vice versa. You've got nothing to lose. With a low mileage engine they MIGHT (big might). I used to pull wrenches in a Chrysler store many years ago and frequently Chrysler would step up in situations like this. That being said the economy is quite a bit different too now so they may not entertain anything in this direction now. Ya got nothing to lose by asking. Hiring a lawyer will get you no where as there is nothing to sue for.
