Compare Red Color F-150's
I have a 2012 F-150 4X4 and the color is listed as Candy Apple Red. I have seen 2013 and newer F-150's that were listed as Ruby Red and they look very close to my paint. Is this basically the same color, just a name change?? Or has the color changed somewhat??

Ford does some strange things, like you just mentioned. Look on your door sticker, IIRC Ruby Red is RR, I don't know the code for yours.
E4, my favorite red, went by a number of names, vermillion, bright red, and I think cardinal red.
If you think that's bad, my Race Red, PQ, has at least two different formulations.
LOL, Ford likes to keep you and the body shop guessing.

I have an '11 Lariat. Mine is Red Candy Metallic Dark Clear Coat. I did a quick search and this is what I found for the different Red variants available for the F150 in 2011 and 2012.
XL: Vermillion Red.
STX: Race Red.
XLT: Race Red or Red Candy metallic.
FX2/4: Race Red or Red Candy metallic.
Lariat: in 2011 - Red Candy metallic, in 2012 Red Candy metallic or Race Red.
Platinum: Red Candy metallic.
Ruby Red came out in 2013.
That's what I came up with any way.

FX2/4: Race Red or Red Candy metallic.
