Default Cold Start Rattle

I have done alot of research on the cold start rattle. eCO boost 3.5 My truck has 260k miles on it and it has had the cold start rattle from 110k miles. it uses no oil at all and had been a great truck. Now i barely drive it. i use a different vehicle. I hate to buy something new. Should i suck it up and put the money in it. Should i drive it until its dead. Any thoughts or someone that has gone through something similar please let me know your thoughts.

If its gone 150k miles and the cold start rattle volume/duration/etc. has not gotten worse, I would just drive it. With those miles, I would likely be shopping for a quote on the phaser/chain job and comparing it to a lower mileage used engine. Put the money aside and if it fails, stick another engine in it. If it doesn't, that's money saved. That said, since it doesn't get driven often, I would likely make it a ritual to "flood clear" the truck to build oil pressure before starting it. It should lessen the rattle.

If you don't use it sell it as is, some how mechanic type would do the timing job in their own garage. If you get it fixed you are not going to recoup the 4 K repair charge on top what the market will pay for the truck. You can try starting the truck in flood mode to pre oil the phasers, but if you were going to do that you should have started 150,000 miles ago.

Why keep something you never use. If you need a pickup, Home Depot would gladly do a day rental to you.

Try holding your gas pedal all the way down, press start or turn key to start do not let pedal up for at least 5 seconds engine will try to start, once you let off the pedal then engine will start . Cold start rattle solved

Sheesh now I see this. I traded in my cold start rattling platinum 19(started about 50k miles, traded in with 56k) yesterday.
