Default Click in shifter?

Own my truck since new and today I notice a click in shifter when I step on brake if car is in park? 2017 2.7 with 81k. Never noticed before?
Any ideas
thanks

Sounds like the brake interlock switch. It should make noise as it releases to allow the vehicle to be removed from park.

Your description sounds like what I am imagining happening.

Get in vehicle. Start the engine. Press the brake pedal (hear a click), shift out of park.

The reason the vehicle can't come out of park without the brake pedal pressed is because the lock hasn't disengaged yet.
