Cleaning exterior, between washes and waxing/polish

Old Fart
I hand wash mine in the driveway once a week, I use Meguiars products, their Ultimate Detailer or Quik Wax in between washes depending on how dirty.
BTW I use a dedicated hot water line to wash my F-150 and Mustang and they both are parked in the garage, and if it gets real cold they can be washed in the garage also.

This past summer I bought a 9 gallon sprayer that's on large wheels with a an extendable handle. It has a self contained pump that runs on a rechargeable battery, a hose about 10' long and a wand with an adjustable tip. It doesn't have a lot of pressure because it's designed for spraying chemicals like bug spray, fertilizer, etc.. But it doubles as a spray washer this time of year. I fill it with really warm water and use it to wash and rinse my rims and tires. I've used it once on a really cold day to do a quick wash on the truck. Took a little longer because of the lower pressure, but it worked. You can see it in the background of this pic..

Does the brush do irrevocable damage to the clear coat/paint or are the scratch/swirl marks something that can be fixed with a good clay bar and wax? Do I need to go so far as buffing to get them out? I used the brush one time on my truck but I noticed some minor scratch and swirls after it. I will be avoiding it from now on.
I seen guys coin op brushing thick mud off their 4x4's after a day of wheeling.
Unless one has a beater and don't give a sh** about the paint finish....go ahead and use the coin op brush.
Clay barring ain't gonna do nothing for coin op brush generated swirl marks.

Mequiars sells a waterless wash and wax that had great reviews. If it just a light dusting you can use a detailer spray.
