Cleaning aftermarket wheels
I just put a set of Fuel Mavericks on my truck and was curious what you guys use to clean your aftermarket wheels. The wheels say just to use mild car wash and nothing else. I do not want to ruin the finish on them so I want to be careful what I use. Didn't know if there was a proven safe cleaner

Just use car wash soap and water. That's really all that's needed.

Nice rims.
I use ZEP 509 to remove brake dust and than I wash with dish soap and water. After that I use a good car wax. I find that the wax makes them shine as well as makes the brake dust easier to remove the next time that I need to wash them. I have also used vinyl pool cleaner but the ZEP is better. By the way, I use vinyl pool cleaner on just about everything and than I wash it off. The stuff takes bugs off really well and has never done any damage to the finish just make sure that you do it in the shade.
Manufactures of just about everything say 'soap and water' but that is just to avoid law suits and idiots. About the only thing that will damage the finish is a strong solvent like brake or parts cleaner. I am sure that there are other chemicals out there that will damage the finish but you get the idea.

I just wash my truck and then dry it. Then use the leftover soapy water and wheel brush and do the wheels, comes out great. I bought some wheel cleaner, that says it safe for chrome and everything, but still have never used it.

I clean mine with the Turtle Wax Ice spray detailer I use on my paint. I live in an apt, so I have to run my truck through the touchless carwash, which cleans the wheels pretty well. But once I apply my tire shine, the overspray gets all over the rims. I use the spray detailer to clean it off. I figure if it's ok to use on paint, why not the wheels? So far so good.

Just keeping them clean with whatever routine you use is the key. I'm with the others here. Wash with soap and water, use old clay bars to remove junk that doesn't come off and keep them waxed.
If you don't keep up with them religiously, they'll pay you back for it.

I found a round brush at Target. Cut the handle off and chuck it into my drill. It makes getting in all the tight places very easy.
I use Duragloss 902 for my cleaning.

I wash the wheels last with whatever car soap I using. I use a lambs wool mitt to do the washing.
