CB Install in my 2016 F150 FX4
Thought i would share my CB install in my 2016 FX4. Pic heavy!
Cobra 29 NW LTD Classic with Dual 4ft Firestik Antennas.
There is not much space/area to mount anything like there used to be in the old trucks. I had a 69 F100 Ranger and a 96 F150 XLT that had all kinds of room.
I really did not want to drill or cut holes anywhere or mount it behind the console in the backseat area. I wanted easy access when needed.
After a lot of contemplating i cut a piece of expanded metal, painted it black, put black duct tape around the edges so no scratching and slid it up between the top console parts. The bottom part of the expanded metal just sits in the side tray area and when the CB is tightened to the bracket it pulls it tight and does not move at all. I put black tape on all parts that might rub including the backside of the CB. The expanded metal also give plenty of options for adjusting the bracket for optimal desired viewing angle.
Wired straight to battery with inline fuse. Added inline noise reducer for added assurance against any noise interferance and works great. Ran all wiring wrapped in split loom through driver side firewall grommet along with antenna coax. Dual Firestik antennas are mounted on tool box connected with T connector.
Hope ya'll like my install.

I was looking at that area too. What keeps the radio from rattling around?. My biggest problem is the antenna, I have no plans for a tool box, and on my '12, I used a"Lil Wil" magnet mount that I'd detach from the roof. With this aluminum, there's no chance of that. I've a nice Galaxy I'd like to mount.
