That HEMI has to be seriously held back by torque management to save rear ends and transmissions. I wonder at what RPMs the PCM will actually let the truck go WOT?

I thought it was interesting that they all got the exact same observed mileage.

Which tells me that in the real world most of the trucks will be just about the same

Comfort is really more about seat cushion and material. Ergonomics is about steering wheel angle and button / control placement relative to the driver, so yes they are totally separate

My work truck (2012 Hemi) feels like a Honda with V-tec. In first at about 3500rpm's its like it gets a shot nitrous. Its very inconsistent in other gears but in first it always does it. Compared to the Ford it just feels unrefined in the power-train dept.

As for this comparison.. The Ford is getting long in the tooth and I find it positive that is can hang with trucks that are much fresher designs. It is interesting that the braking was so bad with the big brakes and same tires on all the trucks though, I know less on the GM but what about the Ram.

As for the brakes, Materials used in the construction I think.
Those giant capable brakes on the F150 are one of the things I really like about mine. They're sized for towing, and since I don't tow and have a light truck, they should last a good long time.

Default Car and Driver Test Drive 2014 Chev, 2013 Ram and 2013 F150.

Chevy took top spot which we all know it would being a brand new truck. That Chevy has a payload over 1950 lbs without a driver, wish my F150 had that.

Ford took second place with the Ecoboost Engine, but they said this about the truck.

" From the moment you hop way up into the cabin—it was the one truck here without side steps—and close the door . . . oh, wait, why is the door flapping like that? The same thing happens when you close the hood; the attached front grille jiggles in a way so shocking that, if you’re like us, you’ll open the hood and slam it another time just to see it happen again. And again. Others will wince."

Have to agree with them on the door and hood flapping. I am always expecting the hood to break when I close it.

Ram came in 3rd place, but only by one point.

Can't wait for the 2015 F150. Hope they have a standard payload that bets Chevy.

Yeah, I saw that review too. About two months ago, I test drove a new F150, opened the hood - wow - I was also surprised at how flimsy it was! It just seemed like a real piece of junque to me, flopping all around when I closed it. I didn't notice the doors, just the hood. Ram went away from the whole grill opening and Ford went to it! I like it a lot better when just the top of the hood opens. Oh well, maybe I want a RamF150GM - take the best of each and just mix them rascals up real good!

Default Magazine rating

I haven't put much credit into what car magazines say about trucks since MotorTrend voted the Renault Alliance as car of the year.
