Canadian Winter - Aluminium Body

Canadian Winter - Aluminium Body
Hello folks,
First post for me; I just bought my first Ford (2017 F150, 3.5L eco, XTR, 301A package).
Let me quickly say that I am very impressed with the smoothness of the drive train, pulling power, and fuel economy (I pull a 5500 lbs TT). Unbelievable how low the RPMs stay when towing! I had a '14 Sierra with the 5.3L V8. Ford had employee pricing, so I figured, "What the heck - you only live once, so why not try a Ford."
Anyhow, winter is not far off here in Atlantic Canada. I was thinking of getting a seaonal under-coating, or maybe even the permanent adhesive undercoating. Does anyone have some experience with the aluminium body and Canadian winters yet? They use a lot of salt here in New Brunswick during the snow/ice.
Thanks!

Hi from QC,
Although the aluminum does not rust, it does oxidize. Make sure that every body area is protected by paint and you should be fine.
As for the underbody and since the frame is made of steel, I would rust-proof it with oil. Krown is a good company. It shouldn't be expensive if you ask them to shoot the underbody only. I wouldn't suggest to get it fully undercoated for now since it's kind of useless for us and drilling holes and filling them with oil could void your basic warranty.
Keep in mind that, in order for the undercoat to work, the surface has to be 100% clean & dry. If it's dirty or wet, the oil will not adhere properly. As for the permanent adhesive, I never tried it.

After much research on the subject of auto undercoating I would recommend finding someone that using Fluid Film.
I have also had experience with it and am a believer in their product for corrosion protection. It is also solvent free and so it safe around rubber and wiring.

Hello folks, new poster here, had my 2018 F-150 Supercrew 5.5 Krowned today, no holes drilled, full warranty. Krown tech knew about aluminum "no-holes" approach and used existing holes with no problems. Cost me $130. Cdn after $10. on-line cupon.
Cheers
