Default Can you upgrade sync3 to add sync connect

Just got a 2017 F150 and it came with sync3 but not sync connect. Can you add Sync Connect and is it worth the expense??

No, but yes...

Sync Connect is factory installed. Once Ford releases it ("later this summer"), you will be able to add a comparable option that will NOT be Sync Connect, but will provide many of the same features. Cost unknown.

I was wondering the same thing, since I thought that mine had it and it does not.

Given the cost of the option, IF one is looking for those capabilities, given that it's free for 5 years it would be a no brainer.

For a less-feature solution that is likely being phased out by this solution, cost for many was $300 plus $50 per year, and had to either be activated by the dealer or with FORScan. I can't imagine that this will cost less than a similar amount and a similar fee, but we'll see.

Any updates on this?
I have a late 2016 F150 Limited and was wanting to add Connect when it became available.

FYI, I've done the USB port swap out and am on v2.0 at the moment.

Same here. Would love to know if this is an option for my 2016 with sync 3.

Your dealer may be able to sell you the Sync Connect option that plugs into the OBD port. Dealer has to activate it anyway so you can call and see if they offer them.

If you’re talking about wiring a Sync Connect modem into the truck like it came from the factory, then yes it’s possible, but not necessarily easy or in any way plug and play.
