My dual garage door opening is a little over 9'x24'. I'm always careful trying to line it up side to side since their isn't much clearance, but I was backing in the other night and thought I had everything good. Just a few inches shy of not back far enough from the garage door...Nothing tragic, but closed the garage door and the door hinge bit into the front bumper a little and auto stopped there. The tennis ball method should have been done a little sooner!!

I love garage threads. Mine's ~17' wide by 20' deep. If it weren't for my workbench and tool chests the truck would barely fit. But there'd be no room for a second car because I have the bike in there too. I leave the truck outside. Thank god for remote starters.

I know I'm years late to this thread, but I wanted to post my story about parking in the garage. When we built the house the garage was supposed to be 22 wide x 24 long. When the house was nearly done I was standing in the garage and got looking around thinking the garage wasn't as big as it should have been. No kidding I measured it and sure enough the garage was 22 x 22. Turns out the builder actually shifted that part of my house 2 feet. The rooms behind the garage got 2' extra and the garage was shorted 2'. Of course I wasn't happy but at the time my wife and I both had smallish vehicles that fit without issue. The builder also gave us quite a large discount off his original price due to the screw up. Turns out we rarely used the garage anyways until recently. One morning in the fall of 2016 I went out to start my car and it wouldn't start. I opened the hood and the entire engine compartment was full of black walnuts. We have a lot of black walnut trees on the property. Damn squirrels spent an entire weekend making my car their home. I cleaned all the walnuts out and replaced the spark plug wires they chewed through then put my car in the garage for the rest of the fall. Fall of 2017 rolls around and we're not paying attention to the fact that the walnuts are falling again. My wife comes home one day and tells me her check engine light is on. I scanned the code and looked all over for the problem but couldn't figure it out. My buddy owns a car repair business so I took it to him. Turns out he found a nest built by chipmunks or squirrels on the backside of the engine and they had chewed through a sensor wire and ruined the sensor. I forget what the sensor was but it was $350 for the sensor and then labor to replace it. Okay back in the garage we go with the cars. 2018 rolls around and I'm planning to put the vehicles in the garage at the start of fall. I did that. But one weekend we went away and things were hectic and I completely forgot to put my car in the garage. We came home, and the next day I drove to work and the check engine light came on. I was crapping my pants thinking it was the same rodent issue. I popped the hood and saw no sign of rodents. I then read the code and it was indicating something wrong with fuel management. I called GM and they said that would probably be covered under the emissions warranty. Made an appointment, went to the dealer and sat waiting for them to fix it. About 10 mins later they came out and said "Hey, come here we need to show you something.". They had the hood open and the shroud off the top of the motor. Underneath the shroud was a damn squirrel or chipmunk nest. Son of a bit*h!! They had chewed through multiple wires going to the fuel injectors. The dealership did the best they could and spliced all the wires back together and charged me $700 for the splicing and I think they had to replace a few other parts that were ruined.

Which brings me to today. I just recently bought a 2019 XLT Scab with 6.5' box and it doesn't have power folding mirrors. I knew when I bought it the garage was going to be an issue. I've got shelving units in the garage, a freezer, a small second fridge, garbage cans, bikes etc. I have spent the last couple days moving all the crap from the shelves to a shed I have. The shelving unit will be going somewhere else. I'm moving the freezer to my basement. The garbage cans and a few other small items can go over to the side of the garage where my wife parks. I tested tonight and I can get in the garage with my truck. The truck is 19.3' long. The garage is 22' deep. So leaving a few inches between the truck and door I have a between 2 and 3 feet in the front of the truck. My garage doors are 9' wide, but with the trim I have an actual opening of 8'8". The truck is 8' wide with mirrors not folded. So I've got 4" on each side. But I figure most of the time I'll just roll the window down and pull the drivers mirror in when pulling into the garage. That'll give me a little more room.

This post is really a heads up to anyone who lives in an area with a lot of squirrels or chipmunks and especially if you have nut trees that draw them in. I did some research and found out that these critters don't like to infringe on others territory. So they keep spreading out. If they run out of room they start looking for new areas to move into. Vehicles are very attractive to them. And once they get in they start chewing. I make sure to get my small game license every year and I spend quite a bit of time thinning them out every year since I live in the country. It's like trying to bail water out of the Titanic, but the last couple years I have noticed fewer of the critters heading into fall. So maybe it's helping somewhat.

My truck will definitely go in the garage in the fall when the nuts are falling. And I'll probably put it in most of the winter as well. Spring and summer I'll just leave it outside. You've been warned about the freaking rodents!

Mine is 22' deep x 23' wide, but still not big enough...

I have to do this to squeeze the truck inside to work on it.

Not much room to squeeze behind it, the front bumper is almost touching the door.

So it sits outside....

That's a lot of toys . Luckily I have a huge basement where I keep all my tools and woodworking equipment. Kind of a pain if I need to work on my vehicles because I have to bring the tools up from the basement, but that's typically not often so not a huge deal.

I keep my 17 RCSB in my shop down at the bottom of the concrete driveway so I know we can always get out if it rains and freezes. But, I think it would fit in the garage with the 14 Flex. The Flex currently is alone but there is a standard width steel bench in front of it and when the gd is closed you can just slip by the front of the Flex. A crew may fit but it would be tight. That said, this house was designed ADA compliant and I built an ADA spec ramp from the garage man door to the entry door of the house and it fits with about 4” of clearance between the end and the swing of the man door. If the house you are looking at is ADA compliant you should fit if the width is right.
I just went out and measured. I have an 18’ wide door and a 21’ 6” depth. I can fit the Flex and a SRW Crew with 6.75’ bed in no problem. An 8’ bed will fit but the gd would not close. Dually, no way. My garage would be as small as you could go with my 14 Flex and a F-250 SRW crew.

20x24 my 08 ex cab fit along with my woman's g6. But my 12 screw is a little bit taller and won't clear the door. More room for tools and toys now 👍

My wife's door is 9' for her Accord and mine is 16'. My issue is length. With the garage door closed and the front bumper kissing wall studs, I touch both the door bracing and my tailgate (2016 F150 Super (6.5' bed I believe) Garage is not as deep as I always believed. Thought I had a 24' pad and the interior space was close to 22' deep. Truck is pretty much 20' long from what I gather. Considering building a frame / box on the back wall and removing the studs which are equal to the width of the truck. That would open up another 3.5" of space up front. My gut would be pleased.

Gotta love those 60's brick garages. Yea its detached, which really does suck, but its big. My issue is that I have to many projects. I've got an old ranger half torn apart in one bay, and a replacement frame for it in the other. I should just get rid of it but it was such a clean truck when I bent the frame.

I will just stick with my cellar, 26 foot wide by 65 foot long, I can actually get 4 cars in it, 3 on 1 side and 1 on the other before you get to the bathroom. Drains on the floor and running hot water if I want to wash the car or truck in the winter.
