Default Can you fit your big Ford and another car comfortably into a 2 car garage?

So this sounds like a dumb question, but here is my story. We currently have our "starter house with a single car garage" up for sale. My wife and I are looking for a house with a 2 car garage (single door) house. I figured I would have no problem getting my truck and her Murano into the garage. But after pulling into the driveway of an open house, I get the feeling that my truck is too wide and would have to fold the mirrors back(not feasable on a daily basis). I measured the garage doors of a couple of houses and they are 16' wide. My co-workers say there is no way to get my full size truck in and still be able to open the doors to get out with her car also in the garage. I really wanted to get my truck inside out of the weather. Your thoughts? My tires really only stick a couple of inches out of the fender wells and I have factory non towing mirrors though I want to change them to tow.

I have a 22x22 double garage and it is tight parking my 04 Scab and 03 impala inside. The car is my DD so I tend to park closer to my pickup than someone who has to use both a day. If you plan on putting anything else in your garage, expect to park something outside.

The standard two car garage will not work, most of them you won't even be able to fit in length wise! ( on new construction) I would look for a home either built in the 80's, (the garagers were bigger back then) or for a place with an "oversized" garage. The door is not the big issue, as long as the garage has the extra length and width you will need to park and open at least your drivers door without smashing anything. Good luck!

I have a 20x24 garage, the 24 length is fine. The width is a little tight, but doable. My wife has a 2013 Escape and she parks on the left side, and my SCab is on the right. I have to pull in and angle it toward the wall. You can't get in the passenger side of the truck. If her Escape isn't up too far, you can open her passenger door or my driver's door all of the way. I have folding mirrors and fold them in all of the time, so I can be tighter on the passenger side. The 2010 I had didn't have the folding mirrors, but I was still able to get pretty tight to the passenger side wall. I just had to be careful backing out. Good Luck!

My truck doesn't fit in the garage, width is fine for my 2 car garage but its too long. But I also have the 6.5 bed screw.

Nope. It was a tight squeeze when I still had the Ranger. No way the SuperCrew (stock height) would fit by width or length. It just clears the door by 2 inches.

I can barely get my 02 screw in my 22x22 garage if I put the 02 explorer in 1forward and 1 backward it's a tight squeeze to open the driver door on either and get in and out.

I fit a SCREW 5.5 bed and the wife's MDX in the 2 car section of a 3 car garage. It has the standard 16' wide door.
The issue was length, and I have what they call "extended length", and if it was 3" longer, it wouldn't fit.

I have a 19x22 and I can fit my 2011 screw( backed in) and a 2012 focus pulled straight in, with little more than 2 feet between them to spare. It's defiantly not ideal the wider and deeper the better. 22x24 or bigger would be ideal. But it can be done with the smaller ones, just have to be very organized lol.

WOW, the responses are great. I wasn't really thinking lengthwise, more on the width. The houses we look at have pretty good size garages but I will start taking a tape measure with me. I really wanted a garage that both the wife and I can pull into at the end of the day, unload kids and what not, and walk into the house without a lot of work. We are headed to open houses today!
