Can I get a step bumper hitch reciver that fits in the ball mount hole?
Hello. I need a bit of help.
I have a 2007 F150 that has a place to put a 3" ball in the step bumper but no hitch receiver.
I need to mount a small wheelchair carrier and need a 2" hitch receiver.
No bolt holes there for something like a Curt Mfg 19030...
Anyone know of a hitch receiver that might mount in the ball hole?
Thanks in advance,
JW

The receiver hitch is only about $125 at U-Haul and installs with simple hand tools. It's a bolt on hitch. Probably easier than modifying the reciever to mount in the bumper hole.

Thanks Lost. I will see what u-Haul has. They might put willing to put a Curt receiver on for me. 2 3/4 bolts and 2 1/2 bolts...

Stupid question coming fast from left field.......
Why not just put a regular hitch on the truck that bolts to the frame?
The system you are looking at reduces the actual capacity of the bumper itself and is very weak by design.

Buck, I am not sure how it would reduce the capacity of the bumper. I don't plan to tow with this F150 (I also have KR with a tow package); just the wheelchair carrier. Let me know my if I am missing something.
SC4X4; from what I know it would depend on the rating of the bumper. I believe mine is more than enough. Perhaps someone will tell us more...

Oh yes...
"Why not just put a regular hitch on the truck that bolts to the frame?"
Not ruling others out but I think this is simpler, cleaner and all I need.

Very easy to install, took less than 30 minutes. I wasn't sure of the grade of bolts that were included, so I upgraded to Grade 8 bolts. I'm very pleased with hitch and have already put it to the test.42698

The finish is great, I was going to weld this to the front of my tractor, but know I am going to weld mountig brackets to the tractor so I can bolt it on and not mess up the powder coating.34829

The bumper hitch was exactly what I needed. It is perfect for attaching a wheelchair carrier to the step bumper of my Silverado pick-up. After I placed my order I recieved a confirming e-mail of the order. I recieved an e-mail the next day informing me that my order had shipped along with the tracking number. I recieved my order a few days later and installed it on my bumper in barely 5 minutes! I will definitely use E-Trailer for all future trailer hitch needs.15526

I sell hitches for a living. Read the fine print on the item you are interested in. They state that they reduce the capacity of the bumper they are mounted to by 75%. Little known fact. It's simple laws of physics and leverage. A frame mounted hitch will distribute weight through the frame and truck better due to it's length and mounting points.
The rack you plan to put in this receiver will have a LOT more leverage on it than a trailer would. If you're just talking a couple hundred lbs you are probably fine. If you are talking way more than that I'd do it right. The money difference isn't that much in the big picture.
Call me bullheaded, but I don't see the benefit in saving $60-80 on something like this.
